A few days ago, I was invited by Clover Films to the special preview of the movie, Fashion King, which premiered on the 12th of March 2015.
'Fashion King' is a Korean movie based on a webtoon of the same name, and story plot of the movie is pretty simple and straight forward. It tells us of a story of a boy who wants to catch the attention of the prettiest girl in school and eventually steps into a world of fashion.
In Korea, this movie raked in a total of more than 2.5 billion KRW within the first 4 days of screening and it is very popular among teenagers and young working adults.
The story of' 'Fashion King' unfolds when a nerdy looking high school student, Woo Ki-Myung (starring Joo-Won) decides to win his crush's heart by transforming his image. He upgrades his fashion sense and become the coolest guy in school to match her standard. He begs fashion guru, Kim Sung-Oh to teach him how to look cool.
Ahn Jae-Hyun is the coolest guy in school, and he begins to think of him as a competitor, while the prettiest girl in school, played by Park Se-Young starts to notice him. On the other hand, Sulli is a shy nerdy-looking girl who develops a crush on him too.
I love how the story flow of a fashion terrorist turns to a fashion king. It is kinda cool to see how both the male leads pull off those trendy clothes and make their walk-offs on the runway.
The downside of this movie is that it is lacking in balance of both humor and emotions within the story. Overall, it is still a nice movie which places emphasis on fashion within the plot, and I recommend it to be caught this weekend!
