Preview screening of Wreck-It Ralph
Wreck-It Ralph succeeds in creating a heartfelt tribute to the golden era of the 80’s arcade and is a truly wonderful nostalgic delight.
Thanks Sweetie for
extending her invite once again to me to watch the preview screening of Wreck-It Ralph
The movie centers on Ralph (voiced by John C. Reilly),
the villain in the ‘Fix-It Felix’ arcade game who decides to become a hero,
as he is tired of being a bad guy. He goes into a game called ‘Hero’s Duty'. He
later befriends an adorable little girl known as Vanellope (voiced by Sarah
Silverman) from a candy-coating racing game called ‘Sugar Rush’.
Vanellope is an outcast/freak in her game due to her
tendency to glitch out. She tries to get Ralph to help her become a racer again.
I was pleasantly surprised to see some video games
characters making cameos (like Pac-Man, Sonic the Hedgehog and Zangief etc). What
I like most is they did a great job with Vanellope and how her untold story was
unfolded, as it contains surprising twists and turns to keep things interesting
at all times. Through this movie, it reminded us of why we loved arcade / video games, it is
not about the technology or the graphics but is what the games really make us
feel. I felt the joy, fun, loss, sad and happiness in this movie.
Wreck-It
Ralph is really wonderfully created and the voice performance
was brilliant too. The animation is simply wonderful, from the stiff
animation in Wreck-It Ralph’s game to the hyper realistic looking Hero’s Duty
and lastly the uber colorful Sugar Rush. It makes Wreck-It Ralph an
unique pleasure to the audience.
Wreck-It Ralph is incredibly entertaining and enjoyable for both adults and children and it is definitely one of Disney’s greatest works which is worth watching over and over again. The premiere date is on
the 20 December 2012
