Last month, I attended the movie preview of 'Fagara' at the Filmgarde, Bugis+. It’s been eons since I last saw a show with Sammi Cheng, and I relished the opportunity to ‘catch up’ with a actress I used to adore greatly. She plays the estranged daughter of a steamboat restaurant owner who is suddenly thrust into ownership of the restaurant after her father passes away. One would think this would be challenging enough but she discovers her father had two other children at the funeral. I generally find most dramas these days a bit too exaggerated and unrealistic at the same time, but this film would hit right at home with people who have estranged relationships with their families. It was quite the tear jerker as the film plays out, and it did have that bittersweet moment at the end.  Before the movie commenced, we were lead to a hotpot tasting by Xiao Long Kan . All thanks to DBS Bank, I got to experience my first GV Gold Class session! I received a pair of Gold Class Movie Vouchers about half a year ago, and I finally redeemed it for  Wreck-It Ralph2 - 'Ralph Breaks The Internet'.     Six years ago, Ralph, the villain from the fictional arcade game, 'Fix-It Felix' became a hero after saving fellow arcade game, Sugar Rush's princess Vanellope. They have become best friends ever since. The sequel starts off with Ralph being content with his life as he spends his day in the game as a villain, and drinks root beer with Vanellope at night.   Ralph is forced to leave his comfort zone when Vanellope's arcade game broke down, and they need to find a steering wheel replacement quickly, as the 'Sugar Rush' game is in danger of being removed from the arcade! I am really grateful that I got the opportunity to attend the movie preview screening of 'The Lingering'. On the eve of Chinese New Year, Qingyi and her son Dawa, awaited for husband/father Shizi's return from work. They are staying in a remote village, while the husband works in the town a fair distance away. Unfortunately, Shizi never comes home. Dawa starts seeing a strange apparition, which Qingyi cannot see. In the meantime, Qingyi leaves the boy with her neighbour in order to travel to the  village committee building, which has the only telephone that will allow her to contact her husband's workplace. Unfortunately, she winds up hearing that a terrible accident has occurred at the factory, and her husband is no more. The story then shifts to 30 years later, where  Dawa has grown up and shifted away from the village. He hears about his mother's death and returns to the village to handle the necessary funeral arrangements and other issues...

I am really grateful that I got the opportunity to attend the movie preview screening of two upcoming movies, 'Destination Wedding' and 'Searching'.     'Destination Wedding' reunites two of Hollywood's most adored stars, Keanu Reeves and Winona Ryder , as socially awkward 'Frank' and 'Lindsay'. The duo meet on their way to a wedding which they were invited to at San Luis Obispo , and two of them discover that they have many things in common. Both of them hate the bride, the groom and the whole wedding. The y are both pessimistic individuals, and are negative about their lives!   Personally, I did enjoy the show in the beginning but I found that as the movie progressed, there was way too much long dialogue. Thanks MM2 Entertainment for the Gala Premiere tickets to 2359: THE HAUNTING HOUR which premiered on National Day (08/09).   The movie mostly takes place during three different eras of National Service, as evidenced by the different uniforms worn in each story.    The first short story - 'Temasek Green' is about an incident that occured in 1967, where 3 recruits escape from a training camp due to their abusive sergeant, but end up trapped in a cursed village.   Next is 'Camouflage' which takes place in 1985. It follows a group of commandos who encounter many bizarre incidents in camp after they are cursed by a vengeful python spirit.   Lastly, 'Pixelated' takes place in the present, where a socially awkward recruit creates a fake girlfriend on social media to impress his peers. As everyone knows, February is a very short month. It is usually also the busiest month for the Chinese, as the Lunar New Year commonly falls between late January to early February. This year, within the short 28 days of this month, I celebrated my Lunar New Year, Valentine's Day, and most importantly, my wedding solemnization! I am really grateful that I got the opportunity to attend the movie preview screening of 'Game Night' and 'Death Wish'. Without giving away too many spoilers, 'Game Night' is about a couple, Max, Annie, and their close friends who regularly have game nights that consists of quizzes and board games.
