I attended the Gala Premiere of the Chinese drama flick,  'Soulmate' which premiered on the 10th of November 2016.       'Soulmate' is based on the web-novel, 'Qiyue and Ansheng'  which was written by An Ni Bao Bei. This movie stars popular Chinese artistes Zhou Dongyu and Sandra Ma as a pair of inseparable best friends who met when they were only 13 years old. They experienced the highs and lows of adolescence and adulthood together.   Qiyue (starring Sandra Ma) is a bookish person with traditional virtues who is aiming to have a stable future. Ansheng (played by Zhou Dongyu) on the end hand is the total opposite   of Qiyue. A few days ago, I went to the preview screening of the film  'Buddy Cops', which premiered on the 21st April 2016 . Thanks to Clover Films , I was able to get this lovely invite, and watch this hilarious and entertaining movie which served as an antidote for my workload pressure.   This movie is produced by Eric Tsang , and it also features other stars' appearances such as Kate Tsui, Jordan Chan and veteran star, Stanley Fung .         The movie is about a rookie cop, Fei (starring Bosco Wong) and Johnny (played by King Kong) who are at loggerheads and they simply can't stand each other at work. A couple of days ago, I was invited by Clover Films to attend the preview screening of ' The Bodyguard' which is premiering on the 7th April 2016. The Bodyguard is a Hong Kong-Chinese action drama film which is directed by Sammo Hung . Andy Lau serves as one of the film's producers while also making a special appearance. The movie plot is about a retired bodyguard who suffers from early dementia. He is a lonely old man who befriends a young girl. When the young girl’s life is in danger due to her father's (played by Andy Lau) connection with a local mobster, the former Bodyguard uses all his long-forgotten skills to save her.     I was pretty disappointed by this movie as being a martial arts fan, I have waited close to 2 decades for a movie directed by Sammo Hung, but I was left sorely disappointed. 'Twenty' is a light-hearted comedy movie starring Kim Woo Bin, Kang Ha-Neul and Lee Jun-Ho from the group,  2PM . This movie provides a humorous perspective on the life of young adults in Korea.     'Twenty' is about the lives of 3 best friends (Chi-ho, Dong Woo and Kyung Jae) who are literally standing at the crossroad of maturity. 'Conjuring Spirit' is my very first Vietnamese movie and I went in to the theatre without any expectations, but it was surprisingly good!   The story is about an author, Lan (played by Phuong Mai) who decides to leave her cheating husband and moves out with her 5-year-old son, Bi. The pain of the betrayal keeps haunting her and she needs to be under medication in order to improve her mental condition.     She rents a very old apartment to start a new life with her son. Upon paying the rent, a music box was given to her, and which was then passed on to her son. Since then, many strange occurrences begin, and she believes that something evil is coming from the music box     Although, I couldn't understand a single word of what the characters were saying (need not worry, subtitles are available). 'SARA' is a Hong Kong film directed by Herman Yau, and produced by Chapman To. It explores the dark secrets of the sex tourism industry in Asia. The movie is starring Charlene Choi and Simon Yam as the protagonists, and the show will be premiering in Singapore on the 26th of March. The movie is rated as R21, with no cuts.   Both Charlene Choi and Simon Yam won the Best Actor and Best Actress at the Macau International Movie Festival for their Category III Film, ‘SARA’ last year. Charlene was also nominated in the Best Actress Category at the upcoming 34th Hong Kong Film Awards 2015 for her breakthrough performance, ‘SARA’ . The results will be announced on 19th April 2015. A few days ago, I was invited by Clover Films to the special preview of the movie, Fashion King, which premiered on the 12th of March 2015. 'Fashion King' is a Korean movie based on a webtoon of the same name, and story plot of the movie is pretty simple and straight forward. It tells us of a story of a boy who wants to catch the attention of the prettiest girl in school and eventually steps into a world of fashion. In Korea, this movie raked in a total of more than 2.5 billion KRW within the first 4 days of screening and it is very popular among teenagers and young working adults.
