Gala Premiere of JUDGMENT DAY
I had the pleasure of watching the Gala Premiere of ‘JUDGMENT DAY’ as well as having a MEET 'n' GREET the casts all thanks to MOOVIESPY.
'Judgment
Day' surrounds several characters, from all works of life, as they decide to confess
to their wrong-doings and revealing their darkest secrets when it is believed
that doomsday will happen in 72 hours. A corrupted cop (played by Wang Yu Qing)
confesses to his subordinate (starring Mark Lee) that he had accepted a bribe previously.
A married man (played by Henry Thia) tells his family his greatest wish is to
become a woman. A distraught young lady (starring Rebecca Lim) decides to run
away from Singapore and heads for Cambodia, and she breaks up with her fiancé
(played by Chua En Lai).
But miraculously, everyone survives judgement day, and the whole world rejoices, but for those who made irreversible decisions before the judgement day, it is the end of their previous world…
Both Ong Kuo Sin and Mark Lee took up the risk in making the local film, ‘Judgment Day’. Ong Kuo Sin started his career in television directly variety show and recent drama, Channel U’s Jump. He gave up his stable job to pursue his dream, and his biggest obstacle – lacking of funds. As for Mark Lee, he invested monetary in this movie though it is not a typical humor movie with local flavor.
A lot of us labelled our local movie’s genre as either horror or comedy, and this encourage the Director, Ong Kuo Sin wanted to do something different.
This is the final starring role film for the late John Cheng aka Ah Nam. He plays a medium, Uncle Jiu and this is a breakthrough role as it showed a different side of him in the movie. In other local films, he was always cast as a ruffian but this is the first time, he featured as one of the lead actors in 'Judgment Day’, but it is a pity that he wasn’t being able to there to see his new role’s performance.
The cinematography of the meteorite scenes is commendable. All the casts in the movie did a pretty good job and for the first time, I was touched by Henry Thia’s acting. The picturesque landscape and surprisingly lovely chemistry between the Chua En Lai and Rebecca Lim makes up for the flaws of pursuing their dreams segment.
Support local production, support Judgment Day!! The premiere date is on the 18 April 2013.
