[short getaway] Perth Holiday on May Day 2015
Baby and I decided on a family trip to Perth, Australia with Uncle Mike, Shelley, Vi-Vien and Diana. We purchased our tickets from Singapore Airlines (SIA) in March at a promotional price of SGD600-ish per person. I was thrilled that I was heading to another country in less than a month after coming back from my 2-week NYC holiday in April. We boarded the midnight flight and we reached Perth International Airport at 5am local time (do note that, there is no time difference between us).
Uncle Mike and group actually arrived Perth a
day before us from KL. They helped us to pre-book a private transfer from
the airport to our apartment at Bull Creek. The transfer was pretty hefty at
AUD50 per trip. We reached our apartment at 6am and we took a short nap before
we headed out for our first activity.
We left our apartment at 10am to Perth City via subway. We
alighted at Perth Underground and took the free shuttle CAT (Central Area
Transit). There are 4 colors (yellow, red, green and blue) on this service, which brings you around the central places of Perth without any cost! No bus fare is required! This is a really
good service for tourists like us.
We boarded the free shuttle to Watertown Brand Outlet and our shopping journey began.
Watertown Brand Outlet offers the best prices in Perth and it is Perth's
home to outlet shopping! In short, it is a 'One-Stop Shopping Destination'.
Upon reaching the outlet, we decided to have lunch first before embarking on our shopping odyssey. Haha! We settled at a burger joint named 'Burger Edge' and we had a lovely lunch. Thanks Uncle Mike for the lovely treat!
We had a hearty time shopping! We bought a lot of things from
Jay Jays, Kate Hill, Cotton On Megastore, Factorie, Portmans, Temt and
Valleygirl.
After we done with our shopping at the outlet, we again took the free CAT service to a famous steak-house named 'The Old Brewery' which is located minutes away from Perth’s CBD. The thing about this place is that it provides a stunning riverside dining experience!
The
Old Brewery has a niche décor and offers the best steaks in town that are cooked to
perfection.
We started off our meal with Caesar Salad, but obviously the main hero today was the steaks itself! I have never had such tender and juicy steaks before, and normally. I do not enjoy steaks but this meal itself was a class by it's own. Very nice!
The restaurant was named 'WA’s Best Steak Restaurant' in Perth
for a constitutive 5 years, which probably explains the HUGE PRICE TAG.
The dinner was delicious, but the damage was something so mind boggling your monitor screen might catch fire if I posted the price here. Uncle Mike, however, graciously settled the bill, and we felt kinda bad as it was REALLY PRICEY. Did I mention that yet? We suggested chipping in some money for the dinner but he insisted that it was on him. Appreciated Uncle Mike for the generous treat!
Oh, lest I forget I also had breakfast at Jesters at Bull Creek Village, where I had a pastry pie. It tasted simple, but it was delicious and the chocolate milk I had was worth a mention too.
On my last night in Perth, we went to a Japanese Restaurant at
Bull Creek Village named Kai. This eatery place is actually run by a Taiwanese
family and the capacity of the humble place is about just less than 15 seats. We ordered many
side dishes to share among us, prior to having our main courses.
The food was pretty delicious and I was glad that my apartment
is located just next to the Bull Creek Village and it is definitely a good place
for those who are craving for ramen!
After our dinner, we went to the IGA Supermarket which was located a
few retail stores away from the Kai Japanese Restaurant. I picked up some
titbits, groceries, bodycare/haircare products and not forgetting my beloved Coco, some Australian pet supplies!
As Uncle Mike and group were taking a different flight from us,
they left the apartment early at 12.30pm on our last day to the airport, leaving the whole
apartment to us. We paid another AUD60 for the extension of the apartment due to our
flight being at 1am the next day!
We went to do some last-minute shopping nearby at our apartment area, and we took about 20mins to walk to Stockland at Bull Creek.
I had a happy time shopping at my favorite Target and Coles Hypermarket. We ended our day with a nice lunch at Red Rooster.
On our way back to apartment, we saw a gigantic rainbow!
Baby cooked with the ingredients we purchased from Coles
for our dinner. Our transfer came at 1030pm to pick us up to the airport.
Although it was a short getaway to Perth but the memories do last, and I am sure that
we will meet again! We reached SGSIN at 6am on Monday morning, and my ‘Spartan’
baby headed down to work after sending me home while I took a half day morning
and went back to work in the afternoon.
Oh well, that concluded RKM’s short
getaway experience!
