Up, up and away this Chinese New Year at 313@Somerset!
I was glad to be part of the festive at 313@Somerset to write down my wishes for the Lunar New Year on a colorful sky lantern, which was then 'released' digitally on a huge display screen!
The state-of-the-art interactive digital sky lantern display themed ‘Where your wishes take off @313’ is happening from now till the 6th February, 2016.
Sky Lantern Releasing is traditionally practiced in Taiwan
whereby hand-written lanterns are lit up and released into the sky on the 15th
day of the Chinese New Year, and this symbolises good luck and to also cast away
negativity.
This new application allows patrons/shoppers to customise their digital lantern by choosing a list of well-wishes for the year of the Monkey, and these will be displayed on a giant screen in the mall!
They can also personalise it by logging onto their Facebook
page, where their profile photo will be mirrored onto the lantern. This is
a perfect way to share your wishes with friends and family on Facebook! Alternatively, they
can display their customised lantern on the LED screen directly inside the mall
for everyone's viewing pleasure! There is no limit in the number of
lanterns one can create and release. What's more, it is free for all.
Apart from those digital sky lantern creations, there is also a
physical 'Wall of Wishes' for those who prefer to pen down their wishes
permanently. Shoppers/patrons can write their wishes on the lantern-shaped
cards and hang them on the wall.
We did ours, and you should do yours too for good luck! Do drop by 313@Somerset to make your wishes come true and to stay lucky throughout the whole year of the Monkey. HUAT AR!
