[media engagement event] 'Drive Safe with the Stars'

I attended the 'Drive Safe with the Stars' media engagement event event which was held at the ComfortDelGro Driving Centre, and through this event, we were given a throughout presentation on what the 'Driver Development Tool' was about.

Three celebrity artistes were invited to host this event, and they were Li Nan Xing, Julie Tan and Constance Song. Julie Tan shared on her horrifying car crash during a trip to Italy. While she did not sustain any major injuries, it dawned upon her not to take road safety for granted.

Mr Lim Tien Hock, CEO of ComfortDelGro Driving Centre gave a brief introduction upon the idea behind this safety course, which main aim is to utilize a customized Driver Development Tool to help drivers to assess their driving skills in order to improve the way they drive.

Both CK and I were assigned to Ah Ge - Li Nanxing’s car. During the ride, the instructor explained to us how the Driver Development Tool works.

The entire training session is captured on video and drivers can watch on playback immediately after each session. Therefore, they can take steps to correct their mistakes such as sudden accelerating and braking, improper hand position on steering wheel, insufficient scanning of the environment, tailgating as well as failure to check blind spots or signal correctly.

The course utilities the Driver Development Tool, and this unique visual-based management software comes with a portable in-vehicle logging system, cameras and advanced sensors, which all work together to collect performance data during the training session. Thus the driver’s traffic navigation skills are analysed, detailed in graphs and then profiled into retrievable data.

After the presentation, we were honoured to be able to take a photo with Li Nanxing. He is very friendly in person, and engaged in quite a lot of chatter with us.

Lastly, I ended the event with a group photo with my girlfriends!

Thanks for the caring to society on safe and responsible driving. Show your love to others by taking care of yourself firstly. I personally feel that it a good course, even for qualified drivers. The course can be taken as a refresher course to improve one's driving methods. Currently, they are having a promotional price package till 31st December 2019. The fee for the Drive Safe Course is $214 (inclusive of GST), and for the 'Ride Safe Course'there are three levels with fees starting from $53.50 (inclusive of GST).
