The Lost World of Terranova by The Gem Museum

The Gem Museum is Singapore's first and most comprehensive private gem museum to the public which was first founded in 2015. It aims to become the international platform that bridges the gemstone industry and the rest of the world.

 
The Gem Museum presented 'The Lost World of Terranova' themed gemstone exhibition in celebration of Singapore's Night Festival's 11th Anniversary. 
 

In the World of Terranova, there are hidden gems buried within the various terrains - 'Mystical Meteo', 'Crystal Mountain', 'Pearly River' and 'Fantasy Garden'. 

 
The first terrain was 'Mystical Meteo'. A giant crater was created when the asteroid struck, and it left behind space debris of meteorites and tektites. They are rarer than diamonds! 
 
 
The second terrain was 'Crystal Mountain', and it was filled with glowing gems of spinels, rubies, amber rocks and petroleum quartz. These fluorescent minerals are unique as they have the ability to absorb a small amount of light which is then stored in them temporarily! The light is then released at a different wavelength to create visible fluorescent effects of different colors inside the mineral.

The third terrain was a sparkling long 'Pearly River' which was scattered with pearls and opals of different shapes and sizes. 
 
The fourth and the last terrain, 'Fantasy Garden' contains many beautiful colored gemstones of emeralds, sapphires and mushroom tourmalines. 
 




 
I was glad to attend the Media Preview of The Lost World of Terranova which was held at The Gem Museum. It showcased many unusual terrarium exhibits of fossils, meteorites and gemstones with phenomenal effects under different lightings.
