[Opening Ceremony] ‘Spring in the City’ Cultural, Arts and Travel Fair @ VivoCity

The renowned Chinese cultural troupes were taking centre stage this Lunar New Year at VivoCity, Singapore’s largest retail and lifestyle shopping mall as part of an exciting range of celebrations ushering in the festivities. In addition, we got the chance to experience the finest in Chinese heritage with a selection of unique demonstrations and performances, alongside some of the most attractive shopping deals around as we welcome in a prosperous new year.

In partnership for six years with Golden Travel Services, VivoCity will showcase an array of vibrant Chinese culture, with the eye-catching performances from the Henan Tourism Art Troupe, Jinan Acrobatics Troupe, China Population Culture Arts Troupe and the Jilin Arts Troupe the highlight of this year’s programme of activities.

Soaking in the atmosphere of the festive season, shoppers will be delighted by the exciting performances by award-winning troupes hailing from various regions of China like Henan, Jinan and Jilin at the Amphitheatre on Level 3 and along with a range of fascinating acrobatic acts alongside melodious cultural song and dance performances, the 45-minute shows will mesmerize shoppers, twice daily at 6.30pm and 8.00pm.

The cultural performances will also be held at the atrium of Alexandra Retail Centre (ARC) from 11 January – 16 February 2013, 1pm. Shoppers will enjoy the gravity defying performances by the award-wining lion dance troupe, Kuan San Tang Dragon and Lion Dance Troupe at the West Boulevard on 18 February 2013 that will bring good luck and prosperity to all, and admissions to the performance are free too.

Singapore’s very first bilingual TV host, Samuel Chong, has 30 years of events hosting and was the emcee of the night.

It was a girls’ affair today as we (Jas Jas, Sweetie and Yours Truly) attended the Opening Ceremony of the 20th ‘Spring in the City’ Cultural, Arts and Travel Fair @ VivoCity, and we witnessed the launch of this rich Chinese heritage event...

YAY!! Trio of us at the ‘Spring in the City’ Cultural, Arts and Travel Fair.

After the stage performance, we were lead to the dinner reception, and we spotted the mini lion dance mascot on each table at the reception.

Apart from indulging ourselves to the sumptuous dinner spread, we were treated to New Year’s goodies... I can feel that the Snake Year is approaching and it is time to bid goodbye to Dragon Year, see you again in 12 years times...

We took pictures while having our dinner at the reception area. We were simply immersed with our fun ways of spending time with one another. We had a lovely cozy affair indeed, and lastly thanks for the invite!!

Apart from the stage performances and the lion dance troupe and cultural art performances, there are 77 retail booths set up at Central Court A, North Court and South Avenue this year. Each booth presents their exquisite selection of unique oriental art pieces, and there is a on-site Chinese painting and calligraphy demonstrations. VivoCity offers the closest in-touch with the rich heritage Chinese culture to the shoppers.

There is also a Chinese New Year Goodies Fair setup by TANGS at Central Court B, where you can find a array of the most delectable festive food stuffs and ornaments perfect for sharing with one’s family and loved ones.
