Vacation: Hong Kong / Shenzhen's food gem

I enjoyed my holiday to Hong Kong (HKG) / Shenzhen (SZX) very much, and it was pretty fruitful as we saw unique neon-light sign boards and amazing night scenery in Hong Kong and the extraordinary shopping experience in Shenzhen, but the most important thing is that we were able to taste some of the best food in HKG and SZX... We are mad about food!!

We took Singapore Airlines (SQ) to HKG, and the total flying time is about 3hrs 45mins. Apart from having meals on the plane, we headed down to Causeway Bay by MTR which was just few stops from where our hotel’s nearest MTR Station, Sheung Wan is located

We went to Chi Ji Wanton Noodle Specialist 池記雲吞麵家, which has an award from the Michelin guide.

We had the signature Wanton Noodles Soup and the texture of the noodles were firm and chewy.

We shared the greenies, it tasted simple yet good.

We did a little shopping at Times Square and we walked around Jardine’s Bazaar /Jardine’s Cresent (along Hennessy Road and Paterson Road)
We spotted this street stall as we discovered that it was surrounded with people, and the crowd was fairly heavy, so we decided to stop by to get some local street food from the stall...

We had Curry ‘Yu Dan’ which comes in a tube tub and is served with curry sauce. Though they might look like normal fishballs in Singapore, they are not the same in terms of texture and taste wise.

Though our stay was inclusive of breakfast, I still wanted to ease my cravings for Hong Kong Dim Sum, so we decided to eat a little at the brekkie buffet spread and save our stomach for later...

We took the train down to Tsing Yi for some dim sum indulgence, and it was a distance from our hotel.

We headed down to Federal Palace Restaurant which is located at Maritime Square, and we took our queue number. This eatery place is always full, and advance booking is essential. Oh well, we are tourists and it is pretty tedious for us to set a time for our reservation, so I guess we ought to wait for our seats then...

Finally, my desire was fulfilled and I enjoyed every bit of it.

I love the Scallops Rice Roll and the Shrimp Dumpling (Har Gau) loads... The damage was HKD118 ~ SGD19.

We had roasted delights for our late lunch at Tsim Sha Tsui (TST)...

Roasted BBQ Pork Rice and Roasted Goose Rice

It was a pretty decent lunch for us...

We refreshed ourselves with delicious dessert from the famous Dessert House in HKG, ‘Xu Liu Shan’

We had our dinner at the Temple Street, Tak Kee Seafood Restaurant and it was pretty much a different dining experience as our tables were along the roadside.

We had Fried Beef Hor Fun, and the beef meat is tasty and tender.

The Fish and Tofu Soup was kinda disappointing as the soup was bland.

Stir-fried Pork in Claypot was the clincher for me during the whole dinner. I love the gravy as it whipped up my appetite...

Time for some coffee break from our shopping and sightseeing at Harbour City, TST. We went to Agnes B. Cafe l.p.g (Le Pain Grille).

Baby kept reminding me that he wants to eat fish noodles timely the moment we landed HKG airport, The fish noodles is the local eats that can only found in Hong Kong and no other places, so we always make a point to eat that before heading back to our homeland whenever we visit Hong Kong.

We took the MTR to Wan Chai to satisfy our cravings... We stopped by the shop name, Chiu Hing 潮興魚旦粉.

We ordered their signature hand-made Fish Paste noodles and the thick-flat noodles is made from fish paste. It tasted superb-ly delicious.

Egg Noodles with Beef Tenderloins and Steamed Kai Lan with Oyster Sauce

Food lovers like us are seeking everywhere for good food... We are making our next stop to Shenzhen for more makan-ing experience. The total time taken to reach Shenzhen is around 60-70mins.
Crossing over to Shenzhen, China from Hong Kong is like crossing the causeway from Singapore to Johor Bahru, Malaysia... The only hassle is that taking the train to and fro to Luo Hu District (border of CN/HK) is always crowded. The immigration custom for foreigners is generally fast-paced.

Upon stepping into China territory, Shenzhen, we headed straight to the Metro Station and took a 2-stop to Lao Jie for our lite bunch. We went to MoMo Tea which is located at Dong Men Pedestrian Street.

Jess Baby ordered Honey Jasmine Green Tea for herself...

Carrot and Orange Juice

Seaweed Thick Toast

Chicken Yakitori

My favorite restaurant in Luo Hu, Laurel Restaurant, and it is a MUST-GO whenever I visit Shenzhen. OM!! We queued for 45mins for our seats...

The starter

Shrimp Dumpling (Har Gau)

Siew Mai

BBQ Pork Rice Roll (Char Siew Chee Cheong Fun)

Xiao Long Bao

Fried Ee Mee with Braised Brinjal and Salty Fish

We were so happy with ourselves because we managed to eat so much yummy food during our trip to Hong Kong/Shenzhen... I know that we will be back again for more inexpensive shopping in Shenzhen and wonderful dining experience in Hong Kong. Last but not least, shopping is really fun too in Hong Kong.
