My yoga practice at BYCH Hot Yoga

BYCH Hot Yoga provides a calm and relaxing environment for people from all walks of life to learn and grow through the regular practice of hot yoga. It is a place for you to relax your mind and restore your energy.

BYCH Hot Yoga offers 2 types of classes: BYCH Classic and BYCH Cardio.

BYCH Classic is traditional hot yoga practiced over 90 minutes in a room heated to 40ºC, and comprising of a fixed sequence of standing and floor postures that is designed to safely stretch and open the body in preparation for the posture.

BYCH Cardio is a 55-minute class, focusing on standing postures. The combination of the heat and intensity of the standing postures creates a great cardio effect. This is an alternative work out for runners or people who love aerobic exercise.

Yoga is like any other exercise, you only have to start to get better at it, as Yoga is meant for everyone, so through hot yoga, you will develop flexibility, strength and balance.

BYCH Hot Yoga leads to increased health, fitness, mental clarity and ultimate relaxation for practitioners by building a strong physical and mental foundation.

Say hi with our selfie before starting our BYCH Cardio session! We were pretty nervous and excited as this was our first time doing yoga in a hot room with a temperature of 40 Degree Celsius.

BYCH Hot Yoga is for everyone. No matter how young or old you are, how fit you are or what condition you are in, as long as you practice the right way, you can achieve the best results and satisfaction from a hot yoga workout.

BYCH Hot Yoga offers a wide range of classes suiting all timings, as there are over 80 classes per week. The studio is spacious, the shower and changing rooms are clean too.

The yoga classes are designed for beginners like me with a little practice and experience, and I felt comfortable with the session as soon as the session commenced.

At BYCH Hot Yoga, we use ‘MOWEL’ instead of a typical rubber yoga mat. Mowel is a toweled yoga mat which can absorb sweat. It has a towel surface and a waterproof plastic underside, and can be washed and dried after each use. We placed our Mowel within the 4 yellow corner markings before beginning our workout.

We sweat out a lot during the session, and a great relief and relaxation came after the class ended as I felt lighter, physically and mentally. Remember to drink water rationally during class, if your body is hydrated properly, you only need to take sips between postures. Don’t overdo it as it will create an uneasy feeling.

Remember to bring a big bottle of water, and have a great time doing the workout and sweat well.

Luckily, all of us did not feel nauseous or light-headed in the class as I was told about this before I went for my session. Oh well, I guess it varies for different people. If one feels dizzy, just sit down, and take a breather but keep you head up and eyes open the entire time. Dizziness is a sign of dehydration, so prepare by drinking plenty of water throughout the day before going for the class.

The main health benefits of practicing Hot Yoga is to maintain or improve the natural range of motion with the help of the heat, develop healthier eating habits that keeps weight off the body, stay toned and lean, maintain youth, vitality and radiance and most importantly, it is a great preventative medicine for common diseases (such as high blood pressure, diabetes).

During my class, I learnt some basic fundamental styles of hot yoga, and they are pretty simple. Do bear in mind, the best way to learn Hot Yoga is not to use short-cuts.

BYCH Hot Yoga a great place for my yoga practice, and the instructor is encouraging, attentive and helpful.
