The #RunToLiveGreat Welcome Session

I joined the #Runtolivegreat challenge with my training buddy, Tracy and we were glad that we are one of the selected 50 pairs to be part of the key highlight of this year Great Eastern Women’s Run (GEWR)

#Runtolivegreat programme encourages non-runners to take that first step towards healthier and better living. 50 selected pairs of women who take up the challenge will have to step forth and commit themselves to a healthier lifestyle by attending various training sessions, fringe activities preparing themselves to eventually complete a run of any race distance for the Great Eastern Women’s Run (GEWR) in 09 November 2014.

We were both invited to attend the enriching Welcome Session at The TreeTop @ Scape, and it was a delightful sharing treat as we got the chance to meet up the #RunToLiveGreat influencers, elite runners and female pacers for this year's Great Eastern Women's Run. These include Ms Dipna Lim Prasad, Dr Lim Baoying, Ms Mok Ying Rong, Ms Chen Ming Ming, Ms Claire Jedrek and Ms Liv Lo. They shared their tips on how to kick start a fitness regime during the welcome session.

The talk was pretty interesting as they shared their passion in running, the different kind of fitness they engaged in and the ways to stay healthy and keep fit. After their speech, they inspired me to pledge myself to keep healthy and to be in good shape always.

My #Runtolivegreat guide book features the activity details and some useful information to prepare myself for the upcoming 3-month challenge. There are 3 mega fringe activities for us to sign up for and we are given complimentary access as a #Runtolivegreat participant.

My buddy and I booked our priority slots for the fringe activities for the next 3 months, as we need to train up our stamina leading up to the run.

Being a participant of the #Runtolivegreat programme, we received a complimentary starter kit worth up to SGD350, comprising of an Adidas workout T-shirt, a pair of New Balance running shoes, a Polar Loop activity tracker, training manual, LiveGreat card, LiveGreat cap, Great Eastern bag, and all-access to three pre-assigned Great Eastern Women’s Run 2014 fringe activities.

One of favorite item of the starter kit is Polar Loop Activity Tracker, as this device can help us to trace the amount of calories burnt and the distance covered during a day of workout. The Activity Tracker bears a simple design and non-bulky. Personally, I like the design and I can simply wear it on my wrist like wearing like a watch.

I love the Adidas workout T-shirt, and I think it looks cool on me… LOL

Beside the uber cool tracker and the workout tee, all participants were also given a pair of New Balance running shoes too.

Thanks Great Eastern for pampering us and I love the goodies that they had prepared for us!

We went to the New Balance store which is located at Scape to try out the shoes size and I chosen the blue among the 3 shoes models/colors.

The registration for Great Eastern Women’s Run (GEWR) is open till 30 September 2014, and interest runners can register at www.greateasternwomensrun.com.The run features three race distances – 5km, 10km and 21.1km, accommodating to female runners of all levels.
