It allows customers to taste authentic home-cooked cze char food-fare. Yam's Kitchen has created a strong core
value in providing customers with a great service/quality at a valuable price, as well as to stay
committed in bringing gastronomical treats to all the patrons who visit the
eatery place.
A
group of us were invited to Yam's Kitchen by Singapore Food Listing for the
Media Tasting, and it is located at Upper Thomson Road where the old Irvin's
seafood was located. It is the second outlet after the successful flagship at E!Hub @ Downtown
East, Pasir Ris.
The interior is pretty simple with an
unpretentious setting. Yam's Kitchen does not implement a service charge and the
food tasted great, as well as being priced reasonably.
We started off with a popular side-snack,
Salted Egg Fish Skin, and it can be found on every table. The portion is decent
enough to share among 3-4 people. The fish skin is well coated with salted egg,
and each piece tasted flavorful with a hint of spiciness. I love the crispy
fish skin very much, and it is probably the highlight of the night! Highly
recommended as you will not regret trying them!
Smoked Duck Wrapped in Crepe and Fragrant
Wine Pork Belly served on a boat plating.
Fragrant Wine Pork Belly has a right
balance of lean and belly meat that makes it taste perfectly delicious. Each
delectable taste of the meat was well-marinated and tasted awesome!
Pork Ball with Double Mushroom in Soya
Bean Paste Soup
Yam's Kitchen is the first restaurant that
specialised in classic fish tail dishes which had been awarded the Top 100 Singapore
Excellence Award in 2012/2013.
[Chef's recommendation] Deep Fried Fish
Tail (Red Snapper) in Coconut Sauce. It is a popular signature dish of which
the fish was deep-fried and the coconut sauce enhanced the overall taste and
aroma.
The fish meat is crispy on the outside,
yet still retains the moisture on the inside. I like the sauce as it was
flavorful ,yet it had no MSG added. It tasted like laksa due to the usage of coconut
milk. A made-in-Singapore dish, indeed!
I love the 3 Treasures Eggs with Vegetables in
Superior Stock very much as it requires skills in maintaining the right balance and
blend of Salted eggs, Chicken eggs and Century eggs. The added bonus to this dish,
was the stock is made of salted eggs which is flavorful yet gives a feeling of satisfaction at the same time.
Prawns in Spicy Milky Sauce with
accompanying of deep-fried Kang Kong at the side.
Braised Sea Cucumber with Pig's Trotter
needs to be slow cooked for 6 hours in order to bring out the best of this dish.
Yam's Kitchen Tofu which was topped with Cai
Poh & Meat Floss. It was smooth and tasted yummy, and I savored every bit
of it.
Although
Penang Seafood Fried Kway Teow bears a charred texture/aroma but they are not
flavorful enough to capture my addiction towards this dish.
We
rounded our food tasting with a refreshing dessert-drink, Honey Lime Juice with Ai-Yu
Jelly.
If
you are in the area, if want to try out REAL awesome cze char food-fare that
will not go wrong, then Yam's Kitchen is an good choice to ease your craves.
