[Fall Italy Vacation] Day 03 : A Day Trip to Venice + Lunch at La Caravella

We woke up early to catch the morning train to Venice, and this was how the Duomo looks like in the morning when there are no crowds at all. We took the local train to Milano Centrale for the national train to Venice.

We purchase some bread and coffee before we boarded the train for breakfast, but Baby had forgotten he had paid for a pair of Business Class tickets on the train fare to Venice, which also included some light snacks and drinks that were served on the train.

We arrived at Venezia Santa Lucia after a 2+ hour journey from Milano Centrale. Once we reached Venice, we visited the main attractions, such as the Grand Canal, ll Fenice Opera House, St. Mark’s Square and the Basilica. In my personal opinion, Venice is a beautiful city that can be covered within a day!

Venice is probably one of the most recognizable places in the world, as it is such a special place to the point that it almost doesn’t feel real.

The Grand Canal is an ancient waterway, lined with buildings, and most were constructed by wealthy Venetian families.

The Rialto Bridge is the oldest of the four bridges spanning the Grand Canal in Venice, Italy, and the bridge is now a significant tourist attraction in the city.

The Gondola Ride is the primary form of transportation in Venice, and this is a favorite thing to do for most tourists!

We took some random photos at St. Mark’s Square.

Saint Mark's Basilica is the cathedral church of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Venice, Northern Italy.

The nice thing about Venice is that it is kind of easy to get around. This floating city is extremely walkable, and there are just endless things to see. At every corner there's something new and beautiful for taking pictures.

We had our lunch in one of the most historic restaurants in Venice, and La Caravella is located within the stunning Hotel Saturnia, and it is an excellent choice for fine dining.

Entering the restaurant is like stepping into a vintage sailing vessel, and we were led to a gorgeous outdoor garden with a nice weather.

For starters, we went for their Sea Selection Caravella Style which comprises of sea-bass, scampi in saor, stuffed squid, scallop, octopus, broccoli, pesto, salmon caviar, and soft pumpkin cream with ginger. It’s a true feast for your eyes and your taste buds.

Our mains were deliciously decadent

We ended off our meal with a lovely Lemon Meringue cake!

La Caravella is truly gorgeous, and I loved their classy service which was not pretentious. All the dishes were delicious and all beautifully presented, and it was an amazing dining experience in Venice.

This time, we went to a famous gelato boutique to get our fix done. We love the Pistachio Gelato from Venchi, as they take pride in keeping their recipes simple and true with no additives.

Venchi is no stranger to Singaporeans, as it is known for their authentic and high-quality chocolates and Gelatos. The only true way to taste the highest quality from Venchi is back in their home country of Italy! Each bite was so pleasurable.

I picked up their chocolates in a beautiful Christmas tin box, and they looked absolutely divine!

A charming day trip to Venice while touring in Italy is a great way as this floating city - Venice is unbelievably magical. It is the perfect destination for a day trip from Milan, and we took a under 3-hour train journey from Milan. It was a charming day trip as we explored the Floating City. We had a nice and romantic experience in Venice!

Stay tuned for my next outing, as we left Milan and travelled to another city of Italy - Florence.
