[All about food] Home-cooked Claypot Chicken Rice + Tambuah Mas + DaXi + Gu Zao Ren Taiwan Porridge + Tampopo + Hi Fan Tian

Yay! It is Baby's cooking time!

Baby used Chicken Boneless Leg meat for a Claypot Chicken Rice (via Rice Cooker) which he made for a quick dinner. By marinating the Chicken meat with Dark Soy sauce, Corn Flour, Sesame Oil, Chinese cooking wine and with a dash of salt and pepper, you're all set for a delicious and protein filled meal!

Yes, I am ready to dig in! Thanks for cooking, Baby!

My mid-week dinner was at Tambuah Mas, an Indonesian restaurant which is located at Orchard Paragon. It serves authentic Indonesia food fare and the service is pretty efficient too.

In general, the food was tasted pretty good but my stand out dish is still the Tauhu Telur. Overall, the dining experience was great and the damage was pretty decent too!

DaXi is an Asian fusion restaurant that specializes in handmade dumplings and Taiwanese Lu Rou Fan. We decided to settle our dinner at DaXi, Vivocity after our mooncakes shopping with 'A', my friend!

Their Taiwanese Lu Rou Fan 飘香卤肉饭 comes in a small bowl, but the rice was topped with tender and yummy braised pork. It is flavorful, and the meat was perfectly braised with just enough fats that melt in the mouth. However as mentioned, I felt the portion was a bit small and would be insufficient for big eaters.

At an affordable price of SGD5.80, DaXi’s Taiwanese Lu Rou Fan was fragrant and yummy with quality, but definitely not for one looking for quantity.

The Pan-fried Original Pork Dumplings looked really promising with the outside crispy base and fillings looking sufficiently plump.

We had a pleasurable experience at DaXi, but the damage was a bit hefty as we paid around SGD70 for the three of us. The quality of the food made up for the pricey damage, and we will definitely come back again!

Both Baby and I re-visited 'Gu Zao Ren Taiwan Porridge' which is located at Changi Road, but this time, Meryl joined us for dinner. I really love their Taiwanese Sweet Potato Porridge, and the best part is that after ordering your first bowl of porridge, subsequent bowls are free, so you can eat as many bowls as you want!

We ordered Hot-plated Tofu, Fried Long Beans with Hae Bee Hiam, Cai Poh Omelette, Curry Pork and a bowl of soup. Our dinner was really delightful, and the damage was decent too!

Baby and I drove down to town on a random Sunday to Tampopo, which is located at Ngee Ann City for Baby's pre-birthday dinner. This eatery place is well-known for their Kuro Buta Tonkatsu and Kuro Buta Shabu Ramen. We ordered both of them as our mains, and we also shared yummy Tempura Moriawase and Sweet Potato Cutlets as sides to go along with our mains. The damage was SGD45+ after Baby's birthday month discount!

Geburtstag Baby and Ich Liebe Dich!

I am from a Teochew dialect family, and we love ‘orh nee’! I really enjoy the Teochew Thousand-Layer Spiral Yam Mooncake by East Ocean Teochew Restaurant. The smooth yam paste was less sweet yet had a natural yam aroma. This really satisfied an ‘orh nee’ lover like me!

I end my post with my recent after-work dinner with my Baby. We settled our meal at Hi Fan Tian which is located at Sims Drive, and we had yummy Pork Chop Egg Fried Rice.

We waited about 20mins for our food to be ready. The fried rice is pretty delicious and the pork chop is akin to the ones found at 'DTF' and ‘KOFR’. I will come back again, since it is just walking distance from where I stay!

I’m glad that you have popped by my humble space and thanks for reading too!
