[Weekend Movie Date] Despicable Me 2

I decided to redeem the movie vouchers which were given to me courtesy from LG for the movie ‘Despicable Me 2’ on a random weekend, and I hope I am not too late to express my views on this movie…

The lovely movie standee outside the cinema attracted me so much that I couldn’t resist myself to take a photo against it…

‘Despicable Me 2’ is a highly anticipated sequel to the lovable and fun movie 'Despicable Me' in 2010. It is a fast-paced and comedy movie that keeps me well-entertained from the very first minute till the end, and the plot moves nicely.

The main character, Gru (voiced by Steve Carell) is likeable and funny. In this sequel, he is no longer a villain, and now he has devoted his life to being a family man to the three adorable orphans, but he has trouble accepting them growing up.

The animations are incredibly beautiful and the setting is vibrant and colorful. This movie was surprisingly better than I thought it would be, and it was as good as the first installment.

In this second installment, love is a central theme to the story plot, and Gru is in love with a new addition character, Lucy Wilde (voiced by Kristen Wiig), the orange-haired woman who works for the AVL. Also known as the Anti-Villain League.

Although there is an array of new colorful characters introduced to the screen but I still love the adorable yellow Minions as they stole the whole film.

I adore the extremely adorable and mischievous yellow minions who speak almost entirely and incomprehensibly in their very own unique lingo.

I am glad that I am still able to watch it before it stopped running in cinemas, and I love every bits of the movie. I had an enjoyable time watching it...

A fulfilled trip to Peranakan Museum

I made a trip down to the Peranakan Museum on a random weekend and explore the vibrant ethnic culture of Peranakan...

The Peranakan Museum showcases the world's finest and most comprehensive Peranakan collection in displays that trace the main episodes of Peranakan life.

Who are Peranakans?
For centuries, foreign merchants from countries like China, India were attracted to Southeast Asia's trade in fine products like textiles, spices and etc. Most returned home but some remained behind, and marry the local women. The descendents of these intermarriages are referred to as 'Peranakan' which means 'locally born' in Malay.
There are ten themed galleries showcasing the Peranakan life from cradle to grave which include the elaborate 12-day of Peranakan wedding, Peranakans in Singapore's history, as well as Peranakan's food and feasting.

The display of a wedding chamber is heavily decorated with ornate carvings of fertility symbols and colorful embroideries...

Chinese Peranakan Women also widely known as Nonyas are well-known for their skill in embroidery and beadwork.
We were given a glimpse of how modern-day Peranakans have evolved with their culture.

As we explored the galleries, we discovered many Peranakan family treasures...
Take a trip to this vibrant museum and learn their unique traditions and I hereby end my post with a status of a late mascot of the Peranakan Museum...

Gala Opening Night of The Phantom of the Opera

After a long day's work, I made my way to the MASTERCARD Theatres (SANDS Theatre) for the GALA OPENING NIGHT of 'The Phantom of the Opera'.

I was given a pair of STALL-SEAT tickets, and we were pretty much looking forward to watch this magnificent all-time favorite musical and we loved the stage setting and the props, specifically the Chandelieir and the ornaments with gold craving. I was especially impressed by the Elephant prop in one scene!

Brad Little plays the most famous character in musical theatre history, the Phantom in 'The Phantom of the Opera', and he is excited to bring his interpretation of the role of 'The Phantom’ to the Singapore audiences...

He plays the role as Phantom was brilliant, and he injected emotions into his role when he sang ‘Music of the Night’ which attracted me to this song very much. His character as the ‘hideous creature of the night’ broke my heart as he reveals his feeling of hurt due to love is more than his physical deformities and scars underneath his mask.
Claire Lyon fits the perfect role as 'Christine' as she is young with a fresh look. She is a relatively new talent like her character in the musical as a young soprano. She acts well as she conveys her fear and love which makes the love triangle among her, Phantom and Raoul (played by Anthony Downing) beautifully done, and I love her singing too.

Watching and listening to the musical LIVE was amazing and I love everything about it, be it the music, the sets and especially the singing… If you think this hit musical, 'The Phantom of the Opera’ by Andrew Lloyd Webber is going to bore you after running for 28 years on stage all over the world, you are very wrong! Perhaps the only old-fashioned cliche of this musical is the love-triangle story but this masterpiece of Andrew Lloyd Webber will never fail to impress everybody who is watching it for the first time, or for a returning audience.
I enjoyed the every musicial score in  ‘The Phantom of the Opera’, and this musical is one of the greatest and darkest love stories of all time...

Why so silent? Sing for me, My Angel of Music!!

The special effects are stunning and the play was brilliant all thanks to the stellar casts and fabulous stage props. Do catch them while they are still in town.

I had the pleasure to attend the Gala Opening Night of 'The Phantom of the Opera' all thanks to BASE Entertainment Asia, and lastly don’t miss out the world’s most successful and longest-running show on Broadway. Be touched again by the tragic tale of the Phantom and be enchanted by the song pieces.
