Haw Par Villa is a Chinese theme park located in Singapore, near Pasir Panjang, and is the only one of its kind left in the world.

Haw Par Villa is rich in heritage, culture and folklore. Popular Chinese Classics such as Journey to the West, The Eight Immortals Crossing the Sea, Feng Shen Bang and Legend of the white Snake are brought to life.

It used to be a very popular attraction spot among the locals and tourist alike in Singapore, and I remember a gathering with my ex-classmates with many photos taken at this iconic Tiger Balm Gardens (originally name of Haw Par Villa). But as time passes, this old Chinese theme park has seen better days and is a fading memory among Singaporeans.
Perhaps the best known attraction at Haw Par Villa, is the Ten Courts of Hell which features gruesome depictions of Hell in Chinese mythology and Buddhism. It used to be set inside a 60-metre long trail of a Chinese Dragon but the dragon has been demolished, so the attraction is now covered by a grey stone wall.

In the 1990s, Haw Par Villa was a quintessential part of everyone's growing up. The park was alive with school visits and young couple journey-ing the Dragon's belly on the short boat ride.

In celebration of Singapore Tourism Board’s 50 Anniversary, they organized a Tourism50 Campaign with 3 reminisce phases. This is to create awareness and appreciate the past and present tourism attractions that were developed by the Singapore Tourism Board.
Sin Hoe Ping Puppet Troupe Performance offers a rich taste of Chinese cultural and traditions.

The first reminisce phase is ‘RELIVING HAW PAR VILLA’, and there were free guided tours at the Haw Par Villa over two weekends in March (15, 16 and 22, 23). I was so lucky to be part of the ‘Reliving Haw Par Villa’ on the last day, and although I did not join the tour but my trip to Haw Par Villa brought back many fond and good memories of my childhood.

I saw many statues at Haw Par Villa, and most of them had a familiar feel to me. It seems like it was just yesterday, when I last came to the park!

It has been a long hiatus since I last stepped into Haw Par Villa, and I remembered having some photos of myself way back in the 90s. And now, I want to share with you guys some retro photos of me and my friends at Haw Par Villa... Do enjoy!! (Denote: I am the one in grey singlet with jeans, and I was super slim during my teenage life. How I wish I can look like that now... Boo!!)

After my post, I hope you can make a trip down to Haw Par Villa with your family, friends and even with your loved ones and create a whole new memory with Reliving Haw Par Villa!!

Star Awards 20: Top 40 Pre-Show Party + Jess Baby's space

This is the first ever Star Awards Pre-Show Party hosted that allowed for the fans to mingle and party with the most popular Mediacorp artistes, and the event was held at BUMP @ The Butter Factory.

I was happy and at the same time feeling lucky to secure my tickets through the Mediacorp website, and this was definitely my first time to have an up-close and personal session (my friend called ‘shoulder-rubbing session’) with the TCS artistes.

All invitees were given a standard drink upon entering the premises and I was feeling excited as i was among the first few to know the list of Top 40 Most Popular Male/Female Artistes for STAR AWARDS 2014 and of course their tele-poll numbers.

Do call in to vote for your favorite artiste(s), as for my 2 votes, it will go to Desmond Tan and Romeo Tan.

Thanks so much for the lovely goodies bag, and we enjoyed ourselves very much at the party. There was a photo machine for instant print when you instagram your photo by adding the unique hashtag: '#starawards20'

Here you go, our instagram LIVE printing pocket-sized photo. Thanks so much for the nylon sleeping mask from Simmons that was part of the goodies bag.

I end my post with a recent concert by MAYDAY PARADE, and they performed LIVE in Scape: The Ground Theatre. MAYDAY PARADE has come a long way ever since their debut in 2007, A Lesson in Romantics.

Thanks Converse for the tickets!!

Last but not least, photos that were taken during the Pet Expo. Coco looked hilarious and happy in the pictures. What a nice 'family' portrait!!

Night out at i Light Marina Bay 2014

i Light Marina Bay is Asia’s only sustainable light art festival that showcases innovative content, the intelligent use of lighting as well as an international line-up of creative talents. Themed Light+heART, the festival this year features 28 innovative and environmentally sustainable light art installations from around the world. The Marina Bay Waterfront has transformed into a magical space of light and colour for the public to celebrate both public spaces and creativity.

To promote an environmentally-responsible behaviour for a sustainable future, the participating artists have incorporated the use of recyclable materials and adopted energy-efficient lighting technologies in the creation of their stunning light art installations. Every aspect of the festival adopts an effective and efficient management of resources to meet this commitment to the environment.

Michelle and I made a trip down to Marina Bay for i Light Marina Bay 2014, and we were there before dusk. I was glad to be able to take a photo of the nice scenery at The Float at Marina Bay.

Old used light bulbs were used for the Canadian design, Cloud. I love this innovative design very much.

Used mineral water bottles were used for the design, Giant Dandelions, and it really save the earth and at the same time send us a message to tell us that great design does not require expensive and complicated materials.

Creations like CLOUD and GIANT DANDELIONS, and the artist wanted to portray that one can do their part to save teh earth, without the usage of expensive and complicated material in a design. The designs suit the promotion theme of environmentally and responsible behaviour, by using recyclable materials to develop awesome light art installations.

All the children love the JOUJOU-OURS, as it was pretty hard to get a nice spot of the exhibit when taking photos against each cute design. Luckily Michelle was agile when snapping pictures for me. ‘LOOK.AIM.SHOOT’ was our motto during the i Light Marina Bay 2014.

We were both amazed by the lighting exhibitions all over the world, and we enjoyed ourselves walking along the whole Marina Bay to view the exhibition.

We stopped by at The Original Sailor Jerry Spiced Pop-Up Tattoo Shop as part of the celebration for Mosaic Music Festival 2014 at The Esplanade.

There was a photo machine located at the pop-up shop for instant print when you instagram your photo by adding the unique hashtag: '#sailorjerrysg'

Appreciate Michelle for joining me to i Light Marina Bay 2014, and I love being with her. I look forward to hang out with her in the near future. Thanks gal (:
