[3D2N] March’s Hong Kong Weekend Staycation - Day 02

The next day, we headed down to the café to have our breakfast as our room stay came with it. I love the breakfast spread, and it was so good as it had a great selection!

We headed straight to West Kowloon Station for our day trip to Shenzhen, China. Crossing over to Mainland China, Shenzhen is pretty simple from Hong Kong, as there is a direct high speed train from West Kowloon Station to Futian Station and it took us only 15mins to reach Shenzhen (both custom clearances take place in West Kowloon Hongkong).

Prior to our departure, we purchased our round train tickets to Futian, Shenzhen from KLOOK. We missed our initial selected train timing due to the long lines at the customs into China Border. We were told to seek the assistance from the customer service to change to the next available train. Luckily, our train ticket was under First Class, so the seats were immediate available on the next train schedule!

Upon clearing the immigration custom, we walked to 星河 Coco Park via the Futian Station Underground. It is located right in the heart of Futian District, and it is a vibrant shopping mall which offers a wide array of shops, cafes, restaurants, and entertainment options.

We had our lunch at Mi Cang, and they serve fusion cuisine. The food was delivered swiftly and the damage was pretty decent. I enjoyed my fuss-free lunch!

After our lunch, we went for some dessert, and we settled down at 楓山甜舖

They serve awesome desserts, especially the 芋圆双芋奶冻碗, and I really love it!

Apart from Coco Park, we also did some shopping at the Huaqiangbei Electronics Market. It is one of the most renowned electronics markets and tech manufacturing neighborhoods in the world.

Both Baby and I found ourselves lingering there for almost 3 hours as we did alot of comparing and haggling for better prices. We picked up some items before leaving the premises. If you are looking for some gadgets or electronics related devices /accessories, then this is a MUST-VISIT place in Shenzhen!

After that, we took a taxi (Didi) to the Shenzhen MixC World, it is a must-visit shopping plaza in Shenzhen, known for its unique architectural style and innovative business concepts.

We visited the HAUS NOWHERE (Gentle Monster) which is famous globally for its futuristic retail space.

Upon entering the HAUS NOWHERE, I was blown away by the giant iconic art installation which were as tall as a titan! : The Colossal First Human with skin texture was so realistic and intricate that it seemed like a real person to me. This is a really cool exhibit and cannot be missed if you’re in Shenzhen! Be sure to get there early as there will be a line to enter the store.

//Pro Tips: enter from level 3 so you can skip the queue in a way//

In Shenzhen, the HAUS NOWHERE has created a brand-new 'Insect Kingdom' based on a fictional novel. The iconic Giant Mantis installation was displayed in the store.

The Three Oracles

We had our dinner at Song He Lou which is located at MixC World. It is a popular restaurant, which offers genuine Suzhou Cuisine.

The damage was not really cheap, as we paid about RMB456. Oh well, the food was delicious so I guess it was definitely worth the money spent!

I did a stamp rally at the restaurant before leaving the premises.

We did some last-minute shopping before heading back to Futian Station by taxi. It took approximately 25mins to reach the station, and our train was scheduled at 10pm.

My shopping & eating experience in Shenzhen was really wonderful and most of the things in Shenzhen were much more affordable as compared to Hong Kong even though our currency exchange is better against Hong Kong dollars than China Yuan.

We left Shenzhen with a satisfied smile on our faces, and we had a fruitful shopping/eating one-day trip indeed. Baby said we should probably stay in Shenzhen for at least a night in future if we return, in order to enjoy Shenzhen to the fullest!

Upon reaching Kowloon West Station from Futian, we took the MTR train back to Central Station. We headed straight to our hotel lounge to make use of our last HKD100 credits before 12-midnight. We ordered some drinks and relaxed ourselves after the whole day's outing!

Stay tuned for my next post on my dining experience on the 1-Star Michelin Weekend Salon Brunch at Duddell’s
