May's Weekend Getaway to Kuala Lumpur

I had a short getaway to Kuala Lumpur (KL) on a random weekend by Scoot. Our flight was scheduled at 8.30pm on a Friday night and we rushed to the airport after our work.

We did our check-in, and we went to have a light dinner before boarding the plane. As usual, Daddy Mike picked up us from the airport, and sent us to ParkRoyal Collection Kuala Lumpur. The hotel is approximately an hour from KLIA (depending on the traffic conditions) and is located opposite Berjaya Times Square and pretty near to Jalan Alor. Checking-in at the hotel was a breeze, as it was probably due to it being past midnight.

The room is spacious which is located one floor below the Collection Club Lounge.

The bathroom was pretty spacious too, and the bathroom amenities are from APPLELLES which is kind of a standard branding that Parkroyal uses.

Here’s a close-up of the amenities provided!

My room was with Club Lounge access, and was located on the 6th floor. The pool shares the same floor as the club lounge. There were many sun-beds and cabanas at the pool.

The lounge offers a offers a comprehensive selection of food. Other hotels usually only offer canapes and light bites during club room access cocktails, but at the ParkRoyal, they offer full meals! One usually does not have to go out for dinner other eating here.

We had all two meals at the lounge, starting with breakfast and evening cocktails. The variety was excellent!

Vi-Vien bought us to Kwai Chai Hong 鬼仔巷, it is a popular instagram-worthy spot for locals and tourists. It brought me back to the glory days of KL Chinatown in the 1960s.

Besides taking photos against the murals, we also enjoyed yesteryear vibes. We hopped into a bar for a quick drinking session.

As we only managed to book the 60-minute body massage at the St. Gregory Spa on our check-out day, we requested for a late check-out at 1pm instead. We truly had a wonderful staycation with PARKROYAL COLLECTION KL!

Village Park Restaurant is located at Damansara and they are famous for their signature Nasi Lemak. This eatery place is run by a Chinese-Muslim husband and wife. It is a well-known eatery place by the locals to have their Nasi Lemak fix, as well as a place frequented by many celebrities, VIPS and politicians.

Although the presentation may look pretty simple, the plate of Nasi Lemak tasted awesomely delicious! Each grain of rice is infused with the amazing flavour of coconut, and compliments the succulent and juicy tender Fried Chicken Leg (Ayam goreng berempah)! The dish also comes with a hard-boiled egg, yummy/crispy ikan bills and the sambal chilli was divine!

The cost for a plate Fried Chicken Leg Nasi Lemak has been increased from RM9 to RM12+. I will definitely request Daddy Mike to bring me back again during my next visit to KL.

As our flight back to Singapore was around 10-ish at night, we had plenty of time on the last day to do more shopping. We will be back soon for more shopping and makan-ing!
