February’s Kuala Lumpur Staycation

The Ringgit dollar recently suffered a huge currency drop against the SGD Dollar. Naturally, Many Singaporeans will take this good opportunity to go Johor Bahru (JB), which is the nearest Malaysian city to our country to do their shopping and to eat. However, we prefer to shop & eat at Kuala Lumpur (KL) instead. The vibes are totally different as KL offers a really good shopping experience and the food selections are wider and nicer! As Kuala Lumpur (KL) is the capital of the county, we can experience many new malls or things before the other states of Malaysia do.

To celebrate this year's 'Chap Gor Meh' of CNY, we decided to have a short getaway to Kuala Lumpur (KL) by Scoot. Our flight was scheduled on a Friday night and we rushed to the airport after our work. We did our check-in, and we went to have a light dinner before boarding the plane. During our meal, we learnt that our flight was delayed for 3.5hours, and was re-scheduled to 00:15hours instead. It was shocking news, and we decided to eat slowly to while away our time!

Upon boarding, Scoot provided all passenger some snacks & beverages as a form of compensation. Although our flight was stated at 00:15hours, the traffic in Changi Airport was kinda busy, hence we literally took-off at nearly 1am.

Normally, Daddy Mike would pick up us from the airport but due to the bad delay of our flight, we decided to do our own e-hailing to our hotel instead.

We booked our Grab-Car from KLIA2 to bring us to Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur. The hotel is approximately an hour from the airport. It cost us RM77! Checking-in at the hotel at 330am was a breeze, as it was probably due to it being wee hours.

The Horizon Club Executive Club was spacious, and we were located on the 20th floor. Upon arriving in the room, there was a welcome gift waiting for us!

The spa-luxurious bathroom amenities are from the Parisian brand L'Occitane.

Good morning, Malaysia! It was nice to be greeted by a nice view from my room.

The Horizon Club Lounge is located on level 1, and it offers a comprehensive selection food. As for now, among all of the hotels we have stayed in so far in KL which has access to the Club Lounge, we preferred this the most!

The lounge provided us with all three meals - breakfast, followed by afternoon tea and lastly, the evening cocktails with canapés. We only had the breakfast and evening cocktails with canapés. The variety & food taste-wise was top notch!

Visiting and shopping KKV was the reason why we skipped our complimentary afternoon tea in the hotel lounge!

We also went over to Fahrenheit88 for some shopping at Bath & Body Works, as they offered some unbeatable deals! I picked up 3 candles for only RM180! At the mall, we saw some exclusive art exhibition showcasing contemporary artwork of legendary comic Old Master Q.

Baby found a nice place for zi char which is pretty near to Bukit Bintang, and we made our way by foot for 15mins to Restoran Onn Kee Claypot Seafood Porridge which is located at Jalan Imbi area.

The Fried Lala was our favourite, as it tasted absolutely amazing!!

Baby enjoyed the Marmite Pork Belly. The deep-fried meat is crispy, and the coated sugary sauce was the key to the yumminess!

The damage was RM96 with 2 drinks! The food is nice which kinda compensated the high damage! If you are interested, you may head over to Restoran Onn Kee - No.53-3, Ground Floor, Jalan Barat, Off Jalan Imbi, 55100 Kuala Lumpur.

We headed back to the hotel to enjoy our evening cocktails with canapés. They provided a comprehensive selection of food, and therefore, we did not need to go out for dinner in order to fill up our stomach.

The next day, after our breakfast, we took a stroll at the Maze Garden at the hotel premises.

We did had the advantage of checking out at the club lounge instead of the hotel lobby, so we did so! We enjoyed some snacks and tea service while waiting for our grab car to pick us up from the hotel.

We went to Restoran Woh which is located at Bandar Sri Damansara. As per the Google review, there are many good raves about the Har Mee (Prawn Mee) and Char Kuey Teow. Therefore, we decided to go there for lunch. We had Prawn Noodles, and the portion was fairly decent for the price (we paid RM9 per bowl). The broth was lukewarm, so I felt that it would have been much better if it was piping hot. The broth was well flavoured with prawn stock. I loved the accompanying chili paste. We also had popiah too!

I couldn’t say that this was an excellent Prawn Mee but it was still good enough to satisfy my stomach! Overall, we had no regrets coming out of the way here for lunch. Definitely an eatery place that I would not mind returning back for a quick meal! (Yes, I want to try their Char Kway Teow)

As our flight back to Singapore was around 11-ish at night, we had plenty of time on the last day to do more shopping. We had Bak Kut Teh for dinner with my father-in-law before heading to the airport. We were so glad that we had managed to try out so much nice food and we love shopping in Kuala Lumpur. We will be back again soon!
