[Food Review] Kyoaji Dining + British Hainan

This was my first time visiting Kyoaji Dining which is located at 111 Somerset, and they served up well-executed, tasty Japanese dishes, albeit at hefty prices.





I love the simple yet classy interior at Kyoaji Dining, as it offered a stylish yet inviting ambience. The fresh delicious Japanese food was well executed.




The Kyoaji Gozen Set: the sashimi was of top quality, while the other items were made with fresh ingredients. The Shake Tempura Gozen had the most value for money at this restaurant for such top-grade quality.

British Hainan is a unique restaurant that offers a unique blend of British and Hainanese cuisine. Stepping into British Hainan transported me into the past, as the premises are filled with antique knick-knacks, vintage artworks and old paintings of celebrities from the past. The decor has a rustic feel, and the spacious area can accommodate large gatherings!




Upon being seated, we ordered a large jug of 'Hainan Refresh' Drink to share amongst us.

The Prawn Cakes were well-prepared. It was amazingly delicious and crispy. The portion for the Grilled Chicken was generous! We loved the tender and juicy chicken meat.


We loved their Hainanese Curry Rice Set, as it is definitely our favorite comfort food! The braised pork was well-seasoned. The curry rice set also comes with a small portion of the popular Hainanese Pork Chop and goes well with Hainanese Chap Chye too.



The food was delicious, and they never really used MSG at all. Their prices are reasonable. We explored the premises and found many interesting vintage items which reminded us of the good old childhood days! Unpretentious affordable comfort food is what makes British Hainan a nice eatery place to have meal gatherings with friends.

Everything was perfect. The food was nice, and the service was good, while the prices were affordable. We will be back again! It’s really a hidden gem located within an industrial estate, with great ambience.
