Dinner at Tipo Pasta Bar / Super Thai / Dal Komm Playground + Weekend Staycation in JB, Malaysia

Baby and I revisited Tipo Pasta Bar which is located at Aliwal Street, as we really love their freshly hand-made pasta. We started off with an order of White Bait Fish, and they tasted great!

We took the 'Build Your Own Pasta' option with a starting price of SGD9.90, and we got to pick our pasta, sauce, and extras!

Tipo Pasta Bar is the real deal. Although the portions might not look huge, the pasta really filled our stomach up. The damage was kinda pricey, but we do enjoy the food here, so naturally one can't eat here every day! Quality wise, I can tell that the eatery only used the freshest ingredients available!

On a random weekday, we re-visited the Super Thai Singapore by Soi Aroy which is located at Upper Aljunied Road again. This eatery place is pretty near where we stay. They offer yummy and authentic Thai food at an affordable price.

It is definitely a real hidden gem for food lovers who are seeking authentic Thai dishes! I love the King Prawn with Vermicelli in Claypot and Prawn Cakes very much!

I met up with Sweetie for dinner after our work. We settled at Dal.Komm Playground which is located at Guoco Midtown. We ordered some sides such as Fried Boneless Chicken, Seafood Pancake and Sweet Potato Fries. It has been a long time since we met to have a meal together. We chatted till the restaurant closed.

Lastly, thanks Sweetie for the X’mas gift!

My SIL organized a family outing to JB over the weekend. We booked a car with 3 stops to pick us to JB. The first stop was from Tampines (my brother’s place), which was then followed by my place, and lastly we then drove to my parent’s place and headed for the checkpoint in Woodlands.

It took us 2 hours+ from point A to reach JB. Upon clearing the customs, the driver dropped us at Say Yes Hong Kong Dim Sum for breakfast. The damage was about RM173+ for the 6adults & 1child! As always, the meal I most look forward to is breakfast, in order to start a brand-new day!

After breakfast, we took a grab to Paradigm Mall for some retail therapy. We love shopping in JB, due to our strong currency conversion. AshGirl enjoyed herself at the Toy World Amusement - Baby Shark Adventure Ville located at the mall itself.

We settled our lunch at Go Noodle House at the mall. This eatery place serves different types of delicious noodles. The damage was around RM173+!

After our lunch, we took a grab to St Giles Hotel Southkey. It was a busy Saturday, and we waited about 20mins in line to do the check in at the lobby reception.

After dropping our bags off, we rested a while and headed straight down to Mid Valley Southkey Shopping Mall to shop.

We took grab again to Danga Bay for seafood dinner. We settled our dinner at Grand Bayview Seafood Restaurant. We were greeted by a majestic lobster statue at the entrance of the restaurant.

We really loved to eat Bamboo Clams which were steamed in soya sauce with garlic and glass noodles, but I have to say the ones at Grand Bayview Seafood Restaurant are much meatier and bouncier in texture. The Bamboo Clams must be ordered in advance!

Do not miss out on their huge Philippines Sea Melon Clams, which were cooked in Kam Heong Sauce. Everyone also sang praises for the French Beans which were topped with Crispy Preserved Radish and Dried Shrimps. It was one of the highlight dishes I had at the restaurant.

We had a satisfying dinner, and the damage was about RM600! In a nutshell, I think that dining and shopping in Johor Bahru is no longer as cheap as one might expect. Prices are fast becoming comparable with those in Singapore, even with the advantageous exchange rates!

Since our room stay was not inclusive of breakfast, we decided to head down to the mall to have our breakfast at the phenomenal Oriental Kopi, and we were in the line for about 15-20mins.

The Egg Tarts are the pride and joy of Oriental Kopi, and every table had a plate of these golden goodies for sure! I had their second most popular item at Oriental Kopi which was the Fried Chicken Meat Mee Siam. I noticed that their Mee Siam was the most ordered item as it was constantly being served out of the kitchen. We rounded off with the Oriental Polo Bun, another crowd-favorite at Oriental Kopi

The damage was about RM234, and as I walked out of the restaurant, I couldn’t help but notice that there was still a line. Oh well, I felt that the hype was well-deserved.

We arranged the driver to pick us up from the hotel lobby at 2.30pm to go back to Singapore. To beat the jam, the driver brought us to the second link instead, and the clearing both sides of the customs took us less than an hour!

I enjoyed my 2D1N weekend getaway with my family. I am glad that my parents enjoyed their stay in JB, and I am looking forward to the next one soon!
