[Nights with Netflix] Screening of Next Gen

Thanks Hpility, for extending your invite to me to attend the 'Nights with Netflix' event. This event was to check out Netflix's Singapore office, as well as to catch a special preview of an awesome screening!

 Netflix Singapore's office is located at Marina One West Tower, and it looked splendid! How I wish I could work in such a wonderful environment! The pantry looks just like an eatery place, and was well stocked with drinks, snacks and even cup noodles!

 

Nextflix won the global rights to stream the movie 'Next Gen', and this newly animated movIe debuts on the 7th of September 2018. 'Next Gen' is a family-friendly movie with pretty good computer animated visuals for a non-Disney/ Pixar/ DreamWorks production. 

 

This film, 'Next Gen' was based on a short online comic from the Chinese Multimedia Company 'Baozou'. I really love the scene where the robot needs to choose which memories to keep and which to delete every night, as it is somehow related to us in our present living environment. Awesome concept indeed! 

 

In the movie, the movie tells about a rebellious young girl named Mai, who stumbles into a secret lab and awakens a powerful robot, 7723. They become friends and start their epic adventure to team up to stop the villain Justin, who is scheming for technological world domination!

 

 

The design lead robot, 7723 may look cute and clumsy, but when the action starts, he totally kicks ass! Therefore, my personal opinion, this film 'Next Gen' is similar to Big Hero 6, but is just as fun! The antagonist robots all look somewhat same in design to 'Gundam' mechs too.

 

 

The animation was top-notch with a good mix of heartfelt drama and action. Many of us were impressed by the movie after the screening as I found myself saying that the animation was very well done. To me, 'Next Gen' is more of an action movie than what most animated films usually are, but i still enjoyed this movie very much as it contained a rather good emotional storyline.

 

Thanks Netflix for the awesome screening and not to forget the lovely keep-sake plush bag charm of 7723. Lastly, thanks for the night guys, and I hope to see you soon!
