[Fall Italy Vacation] Day 05 : Exploring the City of Florence - Hello ‘David’ by Michelangelo + Ponte Vecchio

Good morning! Our room stay was inclusive of a daily breakfast, so we headed down to the hotel café to enjoy the mini buffet spread! There was a decent selection of continental and American breakfast spread.

After our breakfast, we continued to explore Florence as it was truly a city of magic!

While making our way to the museum, I took some photos against the gigantic statue which was located near to the Piazza del Duomo.

We had bought our tickets online in Singapore prior to our visit. This is highly recommended so that you can schedule your preferred visitation slot on all the signature attractions in the city. This is especially important as you may not be able to secure tickets there as it is very popular. Our first visit was to the Galleria Dell Accademia which houses Michelangelo's famous and gorgeous statue of David. The Galleria Dell Accademia also houses a small collection of paintings which I found less interesting than the ones at the Galleria Degli Uffizi. We did a quick glance/walkthrough of the museum before heading directly to the hall containing the 'David' Statue.

The hall was special built for the statue of ‘David’, and the magnificent statue is located at the very end of the corridor. It is an undeniable masterpiece of art!

Although I'm not an art-history buff and I don't know much details of art from the Renaissance era, I do know that the statue of 'David' is a wonder which had to be seen. It's subtle and beautiful.

The Galleria dell’ Accademia is Florence’s most-visited museum right after the Uffizi Gallery. The ‘David’ by Michelangelo is considered one of the most important works of art ever created.

We went over to Ponte Vecchio, and it is one of the most iconic bridges in the world.

We took a wefie against the most ancient and photographed bridge in Florence.

While walking back to our hotel, we purchased a ham sandwich for our dinner!

Upon reaching our hotel room, we grabbed some soda drinks from our complimentary mini-bar, and we went up to the roof top level to enjoy the view while having our simple dinner!

The sunset around 5.30pm, and once dusk came, the whole place was almost pitch dark. It was therefore, time for us to either go back down to our room for a rest or to head down to the hyper-market for some shopping!
