[13D10N - Incentive Trip: Spain & Portugal] 2D1N at Valencia + Day Trip to Peniscola

We left our Barcelona hotel after staying there for 2 nights. We woke up early to have our breakfast at the hotel before checking out.

We packed our luggage and headed down to the lobby to join in the group gathering at 845am. We boarded our tour bus to Valencià. It was an about a 4-hour journey from Barcelona. We were given a 15-mins toilet break after a long drive of 2 hours.

Our first stop en route to Valencià was to visit Peñíscola, a hidden Spanish Gem along the Costa Del Azahar.

One of the most iconic landmarks in Peñíscola is its majestic castle, perched high on a rocky outcrop overlooking the azure waters of the Mediterranean Sea.

Peñiscola is a picturesque coastal town that truly captures the essence of Mediterranean charm. I loved this beautiful little Spanish seaside location.

Upon stepping into the enchanting realm of Peñíscola's Old Town, which is also known as the ‘City in the Sea’, I fell in love with this place! It is a beautiful Spanish white town which boasts a typical Mediterranean vibe with a charming old town full of white houses with blue ornaments and narrow cobblestone streets. This place stole my heart in a blink of an eye. I am glad that this tour included Peñíscola, as without this tour, I would have never known about this place’s existence. Peñíscola is definitely worth visiting!

We settled on another self-paid lunch at Più Che Buono. The restaurant offers Italian and Mediterranean cuisines! Once seated, a plate of appetizer that included Sardines and Olive were served.

We ordered some tapas for our lunch, and not to forget having Sangria, a unique Spanish drink!

We had Huevos estrellados (Spanish-style ham, egg and potatoes). This dish is pretty sinful yet yummy. I loved the runny egg yolk which was topped all over the potatoes and the cured Ham.

The Fried Baby Squid was super addictive!

Apart of that, we ordered Fideuà which is a dish that was originally from the coast of Valencià which is similar like paella. It is made with broken toasted noodles instead of rice. I love this seafood dish which is made with short pasta and a tomato-pepper and stock sauce base.

We enjoyed our lunch, and the damage was pretty similar to our second day lunch. We felt that we are back on our own couple-holiday, as we got to do the things we like to do and eat the things we want to eat!

We went to the most iconic place in Valencià - City of Arts & Sciences (Museu De Les Ciencies).

I was impressed by the huge futuristic buildings. Even without entry into the buildings, the amazing architecture is worthwhile visit!

The City of Arts & Sciences (Museu De Les Ciencies) is the most famous landmark of Valencià, Spain that attract tourists from over the world to witness the impressive architectures!

The tour bus made a brief stop at Mestalla Stadium for photo opportunity for football lovers! If you're a Valencià F.C fan, you will surely want to come here.

Next, we went on a 30 minutes city walk at old town in Valencià. Torres de Serranos - an old city gate that is almost like a castle.

Valencià is a historic city, and visiting the Torres de Serranos is really worth it.

Dinner was provided, and we headed up to the Mediterranean Restaurant - Gran Mercat which was located at the heart of the old town of Valencià.

We started off with some bread, the Garlic Cream Sauce saved this starter, as it was seriously delicious!

Cheese with Iberico Ham

 Patatas Bravas

Mussel Platter

Jamon Croquetas

As Paella has its origins from Valencià, therefore eating paella is a must in Valencià! We were shocked by the size of the Paella Skillet.

We had Vegetable Paella, Chicken Paella and everyone’s favorite - Seafood Paella

We ended our meal with a Dessert Platter!

We wrapped up our dinner around 8pm, and it was time to check into the hotel for our one-night stay at Hotel Xon’s Valencià.

The hotel is located next to the highway, and this was the morning view from our room!

Stay tuned for my next blogpost, as we left Valencià and travelled to another city of Spain - Granada.
