‘John Carter’ is an action film. It is based on Edgar Rice Burroughs' - A Princess of Mars, this noval was first published a century ago...

A former Confederate captain of the American Civil War, John Carter (starring Taylor Kitsch) found himself inexplicably transported to Mars ('Barsoom'). He was picked up by a greeny skinny Martian with 6 limbs and they are known as Tharks. He found himself trapped between in a civil war between the Martians from Helium and Zodanga, and eventually fell in love with the princess, Dejah Thoris (played by Lynn Collins) who is forced into a marriage by her father to their enemy in order to come to a mutual agreement.

The storyline is weak and it shows no emotional appeal to me... In the movie, John Carter seems to have no sense of directions when making decisions, one minute, he is dying to go to the place where he belongs, but the next moment he was persuaded by less than convincing terms to stay in Mars. All I can say, the objectives were scattered everywhere.

2/5

I am ultimately disappointed with John Carter, this movie remains quite one-dimensional despite of the good performance from the lead, Taylor Kitsch. I am surprised to see that Lynn Collins makes a suitably feisty warrior princess in the show.
