[food review] Lim Spring Court 林春苑

A piece of good news to all 'Zi Char' lovers who are residing in the north! There is a great new eatery place for you to bring your family and friends to for a scrumptious feast! Located at the basement of Wisteria Mall is a Chinese restaurant that offers a variety of delicious zi char fare.

Thanks CK on the co-ordinating for the food tasting session at Lim Spring Court 林春苑, and it turned out to be a delightful and wonderful one!

Lim Spring Court 林春苑 offers an array of selection of heart-warming 'home-cooked' cuisine, and they use fresh quality ingredients with excellent cooking skills by the Chef to attract many diners to return to the restaurant! Most importantly, the café omits the service charge and therefore lessens the burden to our pockets whereby allowing one to enjoy an affordable dining experience!

Tracy and I were the first to arrive at the premises, so we took some random photos while waiting for the rest to join us at the tasting session.

During our tasting, it was the official opening ceremony for Lim Spring Court 林春苑 too. All dining and invited guests were treated to a wonderful Lion Dance troupe performance, which is usually believed by the Chinese to usher in blessings and good fortune/business to the restaurant.

After the opening ceremony and Lion Dance troupe performance was over, we began our food tasting session.

We started off with the meat platter - Stir Fried Venison with Ginger & Spring Onion, Nonya Prawn Ball and Signature Garlic Chicken Mid Wings

These three meat dishes are actually standalone dishes that can be ordered. The platter was made especially for our tasting session for us to sample them. They tasted awesomely delicious, and I liked the Stir Fried Venison the best!

The Teochew Style Tea Sauce with Prawn was pretty unique and it tasted good too! It definitely went well with white rice.

I love the Sambal Fried Four Season Beans very much as this dish requires 'Wok-Hei', which essentially means maintaining a high heat while stir frying the dish! The added bonus to this dish was the chilli paste, which was made out of spices/shrimps and is known locally as 'Hei Bi Hiam'! It tasted delicious and had a nice aroma at the same time!

The Cereal Beancurd was coated with fragrant cereal, and I personally felt this dish was the best one at this tasting session. It was smooth and tasted yummy, and I savored every bit of it.

[Chef's recommendation] Deep Fried Fish Tail with Gold Medal Garlic & Sauce - It is a popular signature dish of which the fish was deep-fried, and had a garlic/appetising sauce to kick off one's taste buds! The fish meat was crispy on the outside, yet still retained the moisture on the inside.

All of us enjoyed the Hong Kong Style Two Ways Hor Fun as it bore a charred aroma [the aforementioned 'Wok Hei'!], and the gluey gravy tasted flavorful. This dish is easily addictive!

I had a pleasurable experience at Lim Spring Court 林春苑 as they really served up top notch zi char cuisines. We had a delightful time catching up with one another after our tasting. We were given a bowl of dessert to wash down our meal. I found that the Lemongrass Jelly with Mango Pearls was refreshing and yummy!

All in all, I found that the 3 standout dishes which are on my MUST-ORDER list should I ever come here again, are the 'Hong Kong Style Two Ways Hor Fun', the 'Deep Fried Fish Tail w/Gold Medal Garlic & Sauce', and the 'Cereal Beancurd'.
