'Reload! From kids to recruits' + Food Tasting - Miska Café

My cheeky nephew, HayBoy is turning 11 this coming October. Oh my, time really flies very fast as I still have vivid memories of him being just a little boy. I’ve watched him grow up day by day into a young man, and in a few years, he will be serving his National services (NS).

I decided to bring him to the first-ever curated pop up experience by Singapore Discovery Centre - 'Reload! From kids to recruits', which was held at the atrium at the West Mall.

The little recruits can immerse themselves with 6 friendly stations.

Gear up / Camouflage Station

Plan your Combat Ration

Leopard Crawl Obstacle

Laser Shooting Range

Standard Obstacle Course (SOC)

Wish Singapore a Happy Birthday

The event is a nice sort of ‘heads up’ for kids to learn about the army, and for what recruits can expect when they enter the army. Hayboy enjoyed himself very much, especially at the Laser Shooting Range! Once all 6 stations were cleared, he received a special collectible gold medallion! They also offered some special merchandise at the site too!

For café-hoppers who are averse to crowds, the Quayside Isle which is located at Sentosa Cove, is an ideal spot. Miska Café is a colorful Mediterranean café located among a row of dining establishments. Diners can enjoy a relaxing atmosphere with stunning views of the Marina.

Together with Tracy, we had delightful lunch! We tried their Grilled Chicken Fillet, Rib-Eye Steak with Avocado and Black Pepper Sauce, Truffle Fries, Green Pea Falafel and Warm Mocha.

The Truffle Fries were aromatic and addictive, although it was pretty ordinary for café fare!

The Green Pea Falafel is perfect for starters, and they tasted great as snacks. I was shocked by the size of their Falafel. The portions were huge!

Miska Café is a great place to enjoy a delicious meal or as a gathering with friends on an afternoon day out. The atmosphere is relaxed and inviting, the food is always fresh and their homemade sauces and dressings are delicious too! It offers a large selection of food items and the prices are also pocket-friendly. It is the perfect weekend dining for couples and families too! It may be a tad difficult and inconvenient to get to if you don’t drive, but it’s definitely a pleasant experience.
