Birthday Celebration 2025
This year, my birthday fell about 2 weeks+ before the Chinese New Year Period. To be honest, I'm not very fond of it as most of my friends are busy preparing to welcome the Lunar New Year, and there is no time left for me at all!
Therefore, I started to arrange for dinner dates with friends about 2 weeks before my birthday. Baby had got me a huge birthday gift - A planned 10-day holiday to Okinawa + Fukuoka. Our Plan would have us arriving back in Singapore 3 days before CNY, in order to get ready and to do quick spring cleaning to welcome Chinese New Year!
Linda and Sweetie arranged an early birthday gathering with me, and it was a great catch up! We went to the PS Café outlet at Raffles City. We had a really fabulous time hanging out. I am looking forward for our next meet up!
Both Nita & I had a mini birthday celebration together, as we are Jan Babies! We had our dinner date at Hopscotch which was located at Capitol Piazza. It is a casual restaurant and craft cocktail bar located at Arcade at The Capitol Kempinski, right outside the historic Capitol Theatre.
The Pork Ribs were very flavorful and the calamari rings were good and crispy!! The meat was so soft that it practically slid off the bones. It went so well as an accompaniment with the pickled 'A-char' and Crackers as sides.
The Truffle Pasta met our satisfaction! The food served here was splendid, and I will definitely be coming back again.
My close colleagues decided to celebrate my Birthday at Un-Yang-Kor-Dai. which is located at South Bridge Road.
They are famous for their Som Tam (green papaya salad), and it tasted refreshing and tangy. The green papaya went well with the crunchy peanuts and slightly tart cherry tomatoes.
I love the rich broth of the Tom Yum Fresh Prawns with Coconut Milk. It tasted soury with a tinge of sweetness.
For desserts, we had the Sweet Sticky Rice with Mango. It was sprinkled with toasted mung beans, and it was prepared in the traditional way. I loved the warm sticky rice, as it had a nice texture to it.
My closest clique of friends celebrated my birthday at Dongqu 東區. It is a cozy Taiwanese-inspired restaurant located at Telok Ayer Street.
My friends were so sweet to order the signature cocktails, ‘千里之外’ (Far Away) cocktail for me!
The restaurant was so kind to prepare me 2 shots of cocktail drinks for my birthday celebration. I considered this a new-aged way to replace having a birthday cake instead!
If you are looking for a unique and memorable cocktail experience, Dong Qu is the place to go. This craft cocktail bar offers a range of creative and delicious drinks!
Lastly, thanks SM for the lovely birthday present too! I am so glad that our paths crossed back in 2021, when I first moved into SUO. ‘A Good Neighbour is a Welcome Blessing’.
