[Winter Vacation] Okinawa Churami Aquarium - Day 03 in Okinawa

Good morning, and this is our third day in Okinawa! We woke up as usual around 8-ish and headed down to the Club Lounge to enjoy our breakfast. As usual, there was a choice of traditional Japanese breakfast set or egg-styled breakfast.

As usual, Baby got himself the Traditional Japanese Breakfast Set while I opted for the Egg Omelette with Bacon. I was surprised to be greeted by a big slab of bacon meat!

After our brekkie, we headed down to the Churaumi Aquarium (美ら海水族館, Churaumi Suizokukan). This attraction is a must see, but was the farthest from our accommodation!

The Churaumi Aquarium is widely considered Japan's best aquarium.

The highlight of the visit to the Churaumi Aquarium is the massive water tank, named Kuroshio Sea. The exhibit plays a large part in showcasing the variety of Okinawa's of marine life. The tank contains a wide variety of species, the most striking of which are the Giant Whale Shark and Manta Rays.

We had our lunch at Cafe Ocean Blue, which is located inside the Churaumi Aquarium, it sits right next to the Kuroshio Sea Tank. The floor-to-ceiling glass panels create an immersive experience, making it feel as if you're dining beneath the waves.

Maybe many will say this place is overrated or so, but to us, it is quite the experience! Even though the menu might look simple, the ambience alone makes it worth the visit. The surreal feeling of dining next to some of the ocean’s most magnificent creatures, makes this a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

The open-air water tanks outside the main aquarium building are dedicated to Sea Turtles, Dolphins and Manatees are also open to the public.

We headed back to American Village, Mihama, to have another Okinawan Classic Specialty- Taco Rice, and we settled at TacoRice Cafe Kijimuna. This restaurant is known for Taco Rice, and the food was served fast.

Taco Rice consists of a bed of fluffy rice topped with savory ground meat, melty cheese, crisp lettuce, and a dollop of zesty salsa. It is like taco on rice, and is a mouth-watering fusion of Mexican and Japanese cuisine!

This concluded my travel experience for the third day in Okinawa, Japan!! Stay tuned, for the next post!
