[food review] 新美香卤面 Xin Mei Xiang Lor Mee + Yellow Cab Pizza Co.

I am a huge fan of 新美香卤面 Xin Mei Xiang Lor Mee, and on a random weekend, I was at the Tampines area, hence I visited the Tampines branch!

新美香卤面 Xin Mei Xiang Lor Mee's popularity rose tremendously with locals over the years, and they also gained significant recognition by many media platforms. With their recent expansions, we were delighted to know that this nostalgic taste has becoming more accessible. Now, they have six outlets - Balestier, Clementi West, Holland Drive, Bishan, Tampines, and, of course, their flagship stall at Old Airport Road.

新美香卤面 Xin Mei Xiang Lor Mee is known famously for long queues. Many patrons still patiently brave the long lines and queue, just to have a bowl of comforting traditional Lor Mee. Apart from the traditional/classic Lor Mee, they've also introduced some new creative variations, such as chicken cutlet, crispy fish and even scallops.

The Double Fish Lor Mee is a personal favorite of mine, as I love the fried and tender shredded fish that comes along with the rich braised gravy, making it a satisfying meal for fish lovers.

I still love their signature bowl of traditional Lor Mee, which comes loaded with shredded fish meat, tender braised pork belly, crunchy bean sprouts, and a flavorful braised egg. All this goodness is served over yellow noodles, perfectly soaking up the rich, gooey braised gravy.

The Scallop Lor Mee is a newly premium addition, and is their priciest option. It's a delightful twist on the traditional Lor Mee, featuring succulent scallops that elevate the dish to a more indulgent experience.

The only downside to this stall is the unfriendly staff. The starchy gravy isn’t as good as the one at Old Airport Road but it’s still a satisfying meal for the family. Despite this, I definitely recommend this place if you're in the mood for some good Lor Mee in Tampines!

Operating Hours: 7:00 AM - 6:00 PM (Open daily)

Yellow Cab Pizza Co is located at Citylink Mall, where you can easily spot their bright yellow sign. It presently only has one outlet in Singapore. It has a wide selection of pizzas, and they even have vegetarian options. For the vegetarian menu, I love their four seasons all veg pizza and if you are a meat lover, don’t miss out on their four seasons all meat pizza.

They have a good selection of New York-style pizzas which are freshly prepared and handmade. Thin or Regular Crust is available on request.

I love their furnishings as they were quite interesting, with Traffic lights and Road Signage from New York. Interestingly enough the chairs’ backs were made up of bicycle handlebars!

MUST ORDER- The Twice Baked Potato Skins that came with 3 kinds of cheese being stuffed into the potato skin and topped with bacon bits.

If you are a person who loves cheese, do try out their Roasted Garlic & Ricota Cheese

It’s a great place to hang out, chill and fix your pizza cravings!
