[Northwestern USA trip] Day 1 in Seatte, WA - The Space Needle

Both Baby and I love visiting the United States of America, so we decided to continue on our America Dream Adventure on Baby’s birthday in last September. We found a decent airfare by Delta with a transit stop at Narita, Japan for our Seattle bound flight and Incheon, Korea for our home-bound flight. We have been to most of the major cities of America, so we decided to visit Seattle, WA. Roughly, our tickets cost us about SGD1213 per pax for a return ticket.

Baby did much preparation and an in depth analysis on our entire 10-day stay on this upcoming northwestern USA trip! In total, we stayed at an Airbnb in Seattle and 3 other hotels in Portland and Tacoma respectively.

After 7 hours of flight, we touched down at Narita Airport, Tokyo, around local time 2-ish in the afternoon. Our connecting flight was 3 hours later, so we made use of the lay-time to do some shopping and to eat some Japanese delights!

Our flight journey to Seattle was about 7 hours+, and on our entire flight, we watched some in-flight movies which I missed out on, as they were being screened in theaters previously. During the US bound flight, we were well taken care of by the flight attendants, and the selection on food and drinks are wider as compared to our earlier flight to Japan. We were given some amenities from Delta too!

We landed at SeaTac Airport at around 8.10am local time. Do note that, Seattle is about 12-13 hours behind us which means we earned half a day!

Prior to my trip, we pre-booked a car online, and the company had a policy to pick us up at the airport to SeaTac Rental Car Facility to collect our car. Very good service! In all, our Chevrolet 4WD cost us about USD395 for the entire 9 days. We were all set for our trip after collecting our car!

Our Airbnb - Belltown Court Apartments was located at Downtown Seattle. It was walking distance to the famous Pike Place Market where the original Starbucks was located.

We settled in our Airbnb stay around noontime, and this lovely place was my ‘home’ for 5 days in Seattle. Our damage was about SGD1698+ which I felt was pretty hefty, but this was compensated as it was an excellent location! The neighbourhood seemed safe, and Wi-Fi was stable too!

Our first stop in Seattle was a 10-minute walk to Pike Place Market to have our lunch.

We settled at one of local's favorite food haunts, Lowell's Restaurant for lunch. This eatery place is located in the heart of Pike Place Market, with an incredible view of Eillot Bay and The Great Wheel of Seattle.

Lowell's serves the one of the best Crab cakes in the city, and it kept me wanting more!

We also went to a popular bakery we read about, named PIROSHKY PIROSHKY. This place had a long queue every single day. I guess this place was so popular and nice, they named twice!

We joined the line to make our purchases, and I must say that the damage was pretty hefty. We paid USD15 just for 2 items... They were incredibly delicious though!

At night, we went to visit The Space Needle which is located at Seattle Center (15 mins of walking distance from our apartment). It is one of the most recognizable landmarks in the world and is a treasured Seattle icon. The Space Needle stands at 605’ tall and is one of the most photographed structures in the world.

Apparently the glass I stepped on was as strong as concrete. A dash of courage is required to traverse LOL.

I took many random photos of the night scenery of Downtown Seattle.

That pretty much summed up my first day in Seattle. Thanks for reading and do stay tuned for my next post on my Seattle trip!
