[Birthday Celebration 2021] 2D1N at Mandarin Orchard Singapore - Meritus Club Room

It is still impossible to travel this year due to the world-wide COVID-19 pandemic situation. Now, having a staycation seems to be another way to eliminate the stress away from our hectic lifestyles. This is also now the norm for celebrating milestones such as anniversaries and birthdays!

 

This time last year, we had travelled to Hokkaido to celebrate my birthday. COVID-19 ruined our travel plans this year, so Baby decided to give me a good celebration on my birthday.

 

As Baby was searching for our next staycation to celebrate my birthday, he decided to us his SingapoRediscovers Voucher to book a room at the Mandarin Orchard Singapore. He also managed to discover a wonderful package offered by the hotel. It was the Mandarin Orchard's Staycation package with Gourmet Dining Experiences! This package included a 1-Night Stay at a Meritus Club Room with Club Benefits, as well as a Set Meal for Two at Shisen Hatten!

The check-in time was at 3pm, but we were delighted to collect our room keys around 12-ish, and what really delighted us was that we got a free upgrade!

 

Upon entering the Meritus Club Room, we were greeted by a decor of balloons! We were amazed at how spacious the room was, as it consists of a living hall and bedroom. There were two toilets in the room, whereby there was one in our main bedroom, and one in the living hall near the main entrance. I guess this was for convenience, in case you needed to go before leaving the room!

I went over to the bathroom and found that the toiletries offered were from ETRO, Milano. The hotel also provided TWG tea bags for their staying guests in the room, and naturally, we helped ourselves to the tea while watching movies in the room!

Being a club guest, we could enjoy the club benefits offered by the hotel freely. We went up to the former 'Top of the M', which has now been converted to a club lounge for guests to enjoy afternoon tea. We took many random photos before our afternoon tea set was served to us.

An unlimited serving of afternoon tea at the club lounge! The set consists of sandwiches, hot items and desserts. What a great indulgence to start off our staycation with Mandarin Orchard Singapore.

Thanks Baby for the lovely birthday gift, and of course the hotel for sending me a mini birthday cake too!

Baby booked a table at the Michelin-Star awarded restaurant - Shisen Hatten for our dinner. It was a 4-course Szechwan Cuisine that the hotel had arranged for us.

We started off with Braised Corn Soup with Crab Meat, followed by Wok-fried Chicken with Cashew Nut and Red Pepper. We loved the first two items very much, as they tasted exquisitely delicious!

The dinner continued with Sautéed Seasonal Vegetable and ended with their star dish - Stewed Egg Noodles with Lobster in Superior Stock.

Baby always says - It is very important to have noodles on your birthday, as it represents longevity!

Our dinner was really both our thumbs up! My favorites had to be the Braised Corn Soup with Crab Meat, and the Stewed Egg Noodles with Lobster in Superior Stock! As most people would say, fine-dining offers quality over quantity! I feel that this is really true, as after our meal we still felt a bit hungry! Luckily, there was a cocktail indulgence at the club lounge waiting for us.

We went up again to the club lounge and we were welcomed by some red and white wines before our cocktail sets were served. Each set consisted of a cold platter, cheese platter, hot items and desserts. We went for several servings, and the staff were really friendly and approachable!

We went back to our room, and washed up. I was looking forward to unwrap my present! Check out my video below!

Our stay was inclusive of breakfast, and we had our breakfast at the Club Lounge instead of the dining area located at the hotel lobby. We were given a breakfast menu, and I must say that the selection was pretty good!

 

We were served with a bread/pastry set and fruit set on arrival.

We made our orders at the table by looking through the given menu, and we made several rounds of orders! I've already gotten used to this new norm for buffets. While the traditional buffet is good, the Ala Carte Buffet still has it's plus points, as we can enjoy our meal without making multiple trips to and from our tables!

 

Sadly, good things come to an end, and we had to check out after our breakfast but amazingly we were given a late check-out at 2pm! The service provided by the Mandarin Orchard Singapore was awesome, and we truly had a wonderful staycation!

When I thought that it was the end of my birthday celebration, Baby had another birthday surprise for me! He brought me to Wheelock Place to claim another gift from him!! Aww... that's so sweet of him.

 

He booked a Day-Spa Package from Jurlique for me. The 120-min treatment consists of a 30-min of Sea Salt Body Scrub, a 30-min Body Wrap and 60-min of Aromatherapy Full Body Massage.

After my spa treatment, Baby brought me to have my late lunch at Tampopo - Ngee Ann City.

 

Baby ordered their signature Kuro Buta Tonkatsu while I had Cold Matcha Soba with Tempura. We shared the yummy Gyoza as our side to go along our mains. Thanks for the birthday treat, Baby! Ich Liebe Dich.

I ended my day with an official birthday celebration at home! Thanks for planning such a memorable birthday celebration to compensate for not being able to travel out of Singapore during my birthday month!
