[food+gifts post] Sumire Yakitori House + The Beast Bourbon Bar

It has been a long time since I had Japanese food ever since I came back from Japan in October. Baby brought me to Sumire Yakitori House which is located at Icon Village in Tanjong Pager.

Sumire Yakitori House is an established Yakitori Izakaya in Tokyo and they opened 2 outlets in Singapore and their motto is to bring a smile to every patron who dines in their premises.

We started off with a bowl of complimentary cabbage which is served with Shiodare Japanese Salt Dressing. The fresh and crunchy cabbage tasted good!

We ordered Yari Ika Teryaki, and we got quite a big serving for the price of SGD8.90. A great value for money! The squid was well-grilled and tasted delicious.

We had Hinatoro (Shio)

Bakudan Korokke, a homemade potato croquette with a surprise inside. It is a combination of a crispy croquette with flowing 'lava' (egg yolk) of an onsen egg. Although the dish looked special but it tasted very normal, nothing to shout about. The potato was pretty bland and the egg was cold.

Mini  bowls of Chicken Teriyaki Don and Tori Tama Don were our mains.

I love the Tsukimi Tsukune (Men) with Raw Egg very much, as the Chicken meatballs were perfectly grilled and tasted good after dipping the meatball into the beaten raw egg.

On the whole, we had an enjoyable dinner at Sumire Yakitori House, and it offers a wide range of yakitori items at an affordable prices. The damage was SGD61-ish.

Yu Fan suggested a meet up with Jasmine for Sunday Brunch at The Beast. It is located in-between Bugis and Lavender area, and it is not consider a cafe but more of a bistro bar. It has a relaxed environment and they only serve brunches on Sundays.

The Beast is known for their Bloody Mary, and they have a bar for the patrons to make and prepare their own wild concoction of this popular cocktail. UNLEASHING THE BEAST!

Both Yu Fan and I had Pulled Pork Hash. As we all know that poached eggs generally come with toast but in The Beast, it was served with pulled pork and Hash. (something new indeed!) The portion was pretty huge, and I love the tender and flavorful pulled pork.

Jasmine had Chicken and Waffle, a unique sweet and savory combination. It is a very well-received by younger crowd. It was served with a huge piece of Southern Fried Chicken on top of a plain waffle and a bottle of bourbon maple syrup on the side. It tasted surprising good, as it formed a good balanced taste of sweet and savory!

We also shared a Bacon Maple Glazed Donut, and it was a good treat. It also offers a savory-sweet combination. A MUST -TRY!

HP joined us later at the brunch too, and it was nice catching up with him as it has been a long time since we had a meal together. Lastly thanks Jasmine and Yu Fan for the lovely X’mas pressies!
