CATS, one of the greatest and most adored musicals the world has ever known, has returned to Singapore and is now performing at the MasterCard Theatres, Marina Bay Sands from 9 January with a season extension until 1 February 2015. Tickets are now on sale.
Seen by over 70 million people world-wide, CATS first opened in London in May 1981 and went on a record-breaking number of awards internationally, which include two Olivier Awards for ‘Musical of the Year’ and ‘Outstanding Achievement of the Year in Musicals’, as well as seven Tony Awards! It holds the record for one of the longest-running musicals in West End's history, where it has been playing for 21 years. In addition, CATS played for 18 years on Broadway, as well as in over twenty-six countries, three hundred cities and in fourteen languages. It has received incredible acclaim over the years.
CATS reconnects us with our favorite feline characters – Rum Tum Tugger, Mr. Mistoffelees, Jennyanydots, Old Deuteronomy, Grizabella and Skimbleshanks.
The musical was based on the book of poems ‘Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats’ (1939) by T.S. Eliot, CATS tells the imaginative tale of a tribe of Jellicle Cats, and they gather together for the annual Jellicle Ball.
Lastly, thanks for the invite to CATS Media Call which was a truly indulgence, and I was glad that this legendary musical has returned to Singapore once again.
