[gala opening night/press call] Legally Blonde - The Musical

Thanks for inviting me to the Press Call of 'LEGALLY BLONDE' which I must say, was very worth attending! We were granted access to the backstage for a media tour, and it was very insightful! Everytime I come to the theatre, I've always wondered what it must feel like as a performer or stagehand backstage.

Upon reaching the backstage, I was greeted by colorful costumes and stage props! It was definitely a rare eye-opener for me! Thanks for the opportunity once again.

Base Entertainment Asia brings the perky fashionista Elle Woods and her fabulously fun/quirk persona to the MasterCard Theatres at the Marina Bay Sands for the first time.

The International award-winning Broadway Musical, 'Legally Blonde – The Musical', is based on the novel of the same name, which also spawned a film/movie that starred Reese Witherspoon, and it was a box office hit when it was first released in 2001.

The storyline follows in the same way the film, 'Legally Blonde' plays out! It is an all-singing and dancing romantic comedy about a Southern Californian girl named Elle, who never takes no for an answer. When her boyfriend, Warner dumps her for not being serious about her future, Elle turns her attention from fashion to books and enrols in Harvard Law School just to win him back. It is obviously far from her comfort zone, as she suddenly becomes a misfit.

With the help of new friends - Emmett who is a teaching assistant with a working class background, Paulette who is a down-on-her-luck hairdresser and the 'Greek-Chorus imaginary vision' made up of her UCLA sorority sisters which she can only see. By the end of the story, Elle is no longer judged as a ditzy fashion-conscious blonde, and she also finds her true love in life.

The musical was a success, kudos to the cast of over 25 performers and two dogs from New York. This show is perfect for lightening moods and bringing joy to everyone!

'Legally Blonde - The Musical' is a revamped and good stage version of the same feel good movie which bears the valuable message: 'Being true to yourself never goes out of style'. This musical of true senses only runs for 10 days in Singapore (from 10/May - 20/May 2018) at the Mastercard Theatres, Marina Bay Sands.
