[Fall Italy Vacation] Day 02 : A visit to famous painting of The Last Supper by Leonardo da Vinci + Art Gallery Pinacoteca di Brera Milan

Baby made a breakfast reservation at Café LùBar in Singapore as part of our second day’s itinerary in Milan.

The place is lovely and we entered the dining area via the patio.

It is an amazing place and the food was quite yummy too. We booked a table at their Greenhouse sitting area. Booking a table is highly recommended, as they seem to always be full.

They were quick in their servings once we had placed our order. Baby had Pistachio Croissant as well as a Marmalade Jam Croissant, and he had Cappuccino as his morning drink.

I ordered the Ham & Cheese Toast for myself, and a glass of Latte Macchiato. They were truly delicious, and the atmosphere of the place was great. However, I felt the damage was slightly on the high side!

Overall, the LùBar is worth visiting if you manage to book a table at the Greenhouse - lovely atmosphere and good dishes.

We made our way to Santa Maria delle Gracie to see the one of the most famous paintings in the world - The Last Supper of Leonardo da Vinci.

We had a hard time securing our tickets online in Singapore, as advance reservation is considered 'mandatory' due to the limited availability tickets. The tickets are notorious for selling out months in advance. Baby had been trying his best by logging into their website continuously to see if anyone had given up their tickets of if the museum were releasing additional tickets.

Since we're in Milan, I would think that it is mandatory to see this painting! As it is not akin to a regular museum where you can just simply walk-in and buy a ticket to see the art, you are definitely advised to buy your tickets well in advance! Furthermore, the visit will only allow you a designated 15-minute window after passing through a clinically series of air-locked doors. This is done in order to protect the painting from deteriorating. It sounds like super security, but it's not a joke!

It is a large-scale painting that covers an entire wall of the refectory (dining room). The Last Supper actually is quite impressive to look at.

The Last Supper is one of the most celebrated artworks in Europe. It is one of the most recognizable paintings in the world, this masterpiece by Da Vinci was completed in 1498, making it over 500 years old. It was on the top of my to-do list in Milan, and yes we can now proudly say that we have been there and done that...

For me, it was definitely worth visiting, as it is an iconic masterpiece, that’s for sure! I found it much more satisfying to see it as compared to Mona Lisa painting in the Louvre Museum in Paris! If you are not a huge art history fan, then maybe you don’t have to make your way to see it unless you want to have a bragging ‘Last Supper’ selfie!

We next visited the neighborhood of Brera, where there are many upscale dining restaurants.

We were surprised to have stumbled upon a branch of Osteria Da Fortunata while walking through Brera. Baby had done some research and he had actually earmarked this restaurant to eat at, albeit in Rome. We therefore decided to have it here in Milan. I honestly felt the food was average, but the draw was that the pasta was handmade which can be seen clearly as they have a glass window showcasing their staff handmaking the pasta.

We continued our art journey in Brera, where we went to the Pinacoteca di Brera - an art gallery and museum in the trendy area of Brera in the centre of Milan.

The Kiss, Il Bacio by Franceso Hayez was our favorite painting at the Art Gallery. It was painted in 1859 by the Italian artist, and is probably his best-known work.

It's one of the most important art museums in Milan which showcases the most beautiful art collections in Italy. An unmissable destination for art lovers.

We stopped by Artico which is also located at Brera for some gelato fix!

We made our way to Naviglio Grande - Milan's oldest canal, as our dinner place was located along this historic canal.

The ambiance was nice with outdoor patio seating right near the canal. The aroma from the food was amazing. I love the freshness of the ingredients used.

Baby had Prosecco by the glass. For myself, i have a new favorite drink! Aperol Spritz is amazing, and I actually had it as much as possible during my trip!

We had 'Osso Bucco' with Risotto, and Ravioli'Osso Bucco' is basically braised beef in a white wine broth. It was fantastic!

We had a nice dining experience at Posto di Conversazioneminus the harassing street vendor's who were selling roses and other junk as we were sitting outside!

Stay tuned for my next outing, as we travelled to Venice for a day visit!
