TNP - Food Tasting Session

I was so honored to be invited for food tasting session with Ms Sylvia Toh, the writer from TNP... I had a sumptuous lunch @ Jia Wei Chinese Restaurant... A hidden gem at Grand Mercure Roxy Hotel.

Featuring contemporary design and décor amidst a fine-dining ambiance, Jia Wei Chinese Restaurant offers modern and exquisite fusion Chinese cuisines created by its award-winning chef.

~ Deco and ambience of the restaurant is simplistic yet classy ~

We ordered quite a number of items from the menu... While waiting for our orders, I tried some walnuts which were offered as an appetizer... The walnuts were covered with sesame seeds in a sugary coating and deep-fried. I love the sweet flavor and crunchy texture. It went perfectly with my pu'e tea.
One of the 'MUST ORDER' and 'AWESOME' is the Beijing Duck.

The Braised Fish Maw & Crab Meat with Bamboo Shoot Soup in Hot Stone Pot was fabulous... The highlight of the day, indeed :) Worth the money!

Jennifer, Director of Sales of Grand Mercure Roxy Hotel.... She recommended an unique dessert for me - Chilled Aloe Vera with Lime Sorbet... The mild sweetness of the jelly complements really well with the intense lime sorbet.. A refreshing dessert after a heavy meal...
The Grilled Special Rack of Lamb with Chinese Wine tastes heavenly good... The meat is tender and free from smell... Uber delicious!

I was pleasantly surprised when I knew that Jia Wei also served dim sum... The Siew Mai is bigger-than-normal size from other restaurants and the fresh prawn and lean pork tasted pretty good... A delight and pleasant treat. Though Jia Wei does not have a wide variety of dim sum but most of them taste pretty good. The freshness of the food always keeps the customers for wanting more!

Never leave Jia Wei without trying the desserts! The most commendable dessert is Durian Puree. It is super rich... Good stuff indeed!

Thanks TNP for invitation! Look out for the full coverage for the Tasting Session by Ms Sylvia Toh on 24th April 2011.
