[PART 01] Weekend Getaway to Phuket, Thailand

Baby and I purchased air tickets to Phuket, Thailand in March, as we couldn't resist JetStar's crazy sales! Flying time to Phuket from Singapore is about 1hr 45 minutes, and only paid SGD120 per pax for our round trip tickets!

It was pretty nice to walk around in Jewel in the early morning, as the mall was practically empty. We were there at 5.40am, as our flight was scheduled to depart in the morning at 7.55am!

Prior to our departure, we purchased an airport-hotel transfer online that cost us SGD60 for a round trip. Baby took a photo of me at the waiting area with our 'barang' while waiting for our driver!

The car journey took approx 60 mins to get to our pre-booked hotel. 'Burasari Phuket Hotel Resort' is located in the heart of the bustling beach town of Patong, which is famous for its vibrant night scene.

The hotel was a lovely boutique resort that was surrounded by nature, with plenty of lush trees and gardens filled with pretty flowers. Being in the resort premises was akin to walking into a tropical oasis. It offered a relaxed stage of mind to all in-house guests!

We received a warm welcome as soon as we got off the transfer! During the check-in process, the hotel staff served us with refreshing 'Welcome' Drinks!

After we were done with our check-in procedure, we were told that our room was still under cleaning. We left our luggage with the concierge, and went over to nearby places to have our lunch.

We stopped by Sak & Sa Thai Food, a Thai eatery place within the Patong area for lunch. Everything on the menu was charged at THB100 each. 

Baby had Green Curry with Rice and I ordered a plate of Phad Thai for myself. Apart from that, we also ordered Shrimp Omelette and Fried Shrimp Cakes! 

After our meal, we walked back to the resort to get into our room! We were surprised by the bed-decorations! Baby requested for a 'Happy-Anniversary' theme, but I think the hotel got it mixed up by having the words 'Happy Honeymoon' instead...Oh well, we still appreciated the hotel's gesture which was rendered to us!

The room was spacious, and I was pleasantly surprised to discover that the refreshments in the room, including the contents of the minibar, were all complimentary! Drinks and snacks would be replenished without any extra charge daily!

This is actually my second visit to the Burasari. Everything looked familiar to me, as I was here 2 years ago. Back then, we stayed in the Honeymoon Suite, but since the trip this time was significantly shorter, we opted for a Elite room this time round instead.

The Burasari Hotel Resort is very generous with their amenities, and they provide their guests with almost everything! I love their Spa Burasari products, which I brought home a few sets with me! 

We lepark-ed in the hotel as our flight was pretty early in the morning, especially since we hardly got any sleep the night before.

 

We walked over to Jungcelyon Shopping Centre, which was about a good 15 minute walk from our hotel resort. We settled for dinner at an awesome restaurant, the 'Le Siam'. This is a pretty 'atas' Thai restaurant, and is listed as one of the 'Must-eat' venues in most guides that we saw. In fact, we fell in love with this restaurant on our previous trip, so how could we not have a meal here since we came back!?

We ordered an appetizer, Fresh Squid Salad to kick start our meal. It was a great one indeed! 

We also had the Pineapple Fried Rice, which naturally, was served in a Pineapple husk. The rice was very fragrant and sweet due to the pineapple, and the 'wok-hei' was rather apparent as well! The Fried Shrimp Cake was extremely yummy, and each bite was so satisfactory due to the generous amounts of Shrimp within. 

Of course, the star of our meal was the Tom Yum Goong. This would be one of the better Tom Yum soups we've ever had, as it was not overly spicey, nor was it too rich. It had a perfect mix of both.

Our meal was delightful and the damage was about THB1880. What a hefty dinner, but we enjoyed every bit of it. 

The celebration of the new Thai King, Rama X's coronation was ongoing during our trip, and we were lucky to witness the celebrations and various performances that were being done at the open space area of Jungceylon.

We picked up a lovely packet of Mango Sticky Rice from the night market for an indulgence in our room. Time to rest after a long day, and I shall continue on my Phuket Trip in my next post!
