[Food Tasting] Sun Ray Café

I went for a casual food tasting last week at the north-eastern side of Singapore, and now I want to share a brand new eatery place, Sun Ray Café which is located at 79 Brighton Cresents, Serangoon Gardens. Apart from casual dining, it is also one of the 7 pet-friendly cafes in Singapore.

Sun Ray Café provides a cosy atmosphere to catch up with friends and laze the day away. If you have craving for delectable brunch fare, this place is highly recommended. It is definitely a perfect spot for a lazy afternoon meal.

This is my first time bringing Coco, my lovable ‘furkid’ to attend a food review session. Sun Ray Café was established in December 2010 single-handedly by Dave Lim, and has consistently enjoyed write ups and mentions from Straits Times, Lian He Zao Bao, 8 Days, i-weekly, CHIC magazine and 9tro magazines.

This year, in July, Sun Ray Café was awarded the 'Best Loved Prawn Pasta' by CozyCot, an online magazine offering articles about beauty, fashion and woman lifestyle. Beside main stream media, Sun Ray Café also enjoyed extensive coverage from well-known food review website such as Hungrygowhere.com and local food bloggers.

As a pet-friendly cafe, Sun Ray Café provides pooch menu, and it is a truly dog-friendly cafe. Coco was there for the food tasting with us too...

During the food tasting session, I was introduced to some special premium bottled beers that are available in the cafe.

[From left to right] Fruli Premium Strawberry Beer, Rekorderlig Pear - Swedish Pear Cider, Lichee TaiwanBeer and Japanese Draft Beer - Hitachino Nest aka Owl Beer.

Fromfirst look of Japanese Draft Beer - Hitachino Nest aka Owl Beer, I was attracted by the cute owl illustration, but after trying out the beer, it is pretty much a man's drink.

This is definitely well-liked by many ladies. I can possible say that it is ladies’ dessert beer and I love the sweet after-taste lingering in my mouth...

Coco was given a lamb meatball and she savored every bits ofthe meatball...

We were told that we will be trying out their house specialties during the food tasting session.

Sun Salad
Baby Romain Lettuce tossed with Caesar Dressing, Tomato Bites, Crispy Bacon. I love this appetizer, as it tasted really good. The Soft-boiled Egg crusted with Cornflakes is a pretty unique creation by the master chef.

Asparagus and Bacon
Asparagus poached in salted water, wrapped in Bacon served with Poached Egg and Orange Hollandaise Sauce.

The poached asparagus went very well with the half-boiled egg, and I was surprised that the Orange Hollandaise Sauce turns out pretty good that left me wanting for more.

One Minute Steak and Eggs
Tender Beef Loin was grilled for a minute and then baked in low heat oven with boiled Baby Potatoes, cherry tomatoes and rosemary herb, garlic and olive oil.

The beef meat was tender and juicy, and it was perfectly cooked.

Poached Salmon Fillet
The salmon fillet was poached for 4 minutes in soya milk, and it was then served with Asparagus, Butter and Cream, and lastly a dash of Lemon Juice.

Cumin Crusted Lamb Rack
The lamb rack was baked for 15 minutes (medium rare) and served with Ratatouille. I personally feel that the lamb meat was pretty dry for my taste-buds but the Ratatouille made up for it.

Yorkshire Pork Rack
Pork Rack was grilled for 10 minutes and finished in oven for another 4-5minutes. It is served along with Sweet Potatoes, Mushroom and Apple Cider Sauce.
I love this dish the best, as the pork meat was well marinated and it tasted good and juicy. Every bite of the meat made me go ‘WOW'.

We were honored to meet the master chef, Chef Derrar Hassane behind the food sampler session. He shared with us the preparation work needed behind all the sumptuous meals and also shared with us his experience on his journey of his perfect European-style culinary skills in different countries. Thanks for having us, the food was awesome. We were glad that we can enjoy an authentic yet quality cuisine at an affordable price.

DoubleChocolate and Matcha ice-cream were served to complete our meal...

Lastly, a pot of Chamomile Tea was served to help me digest down the food intake during the wonderful food tasting hosted by Sun Ray Café.

William, Jasmine and Wee Heng were having Cappuccino, Hazelnut Latte and Vanilla Latterespectively.

Thanks Sun Ray Café for the kind hospitality!!
