Road Trip: Quick fix at Yong Peng and Kota Tinggi


On our way to Malacca (Melaka), we stopped by Yong Peng for lunch, and we exited from the Yong Peng and drove into the peaceful town.

 
Yong Peng is in the Batu Pahat district which is well-known for their Mackerel Fish Balls among the locals and of course Singaporeans too, and it is also a place for traditional Chinese fare.
 
We went to one of the popular eatery places in Yong Peng, Hock Swee Hin which is featured on the Malaysia’s newspapers.
 
It was a scorching afternoon, and we were almost dehydrated from our 2hours plus road trip (including massive jam at both checkpoints). So we ordered a refreshing coconut drink each for ourselves...

 
The Braised Peanuts

 
We ordered the famous Fish Balls Soup with Tang Hoon and I love fish balls loads. Oh well, having a bowl of fishball soup or noodles are pretty common sights in Yong Peng as they are famous for those, so therefore we decided to order something else different for our lunchie...

 
We had Red Wine Chicken (Hong Zhao Ji). It was the clincher for me as it whet up my appetite. The chicken meat was tender and the red gravy with Chinese wine enhanced the whole dish. Thumbs up!!

 
Fried Hokkien Mee is fried with dark soy sauce in a traditional way tasted pretty decent. It can be labelled as a healthy dish as it claimed no preservatives added to the cooking. I love the springy feeling of the home-made noodles when I bit them…
 
 
The damage was RM40 (SGD16-ish) and I love my meal. After our meal, we headed back on the road trip to Melaka…

On our way back from Melaka (2D1N)
There were some delays on the road in Melaka due to their slow waiting traffic lights, and we needed to travel 8km from Melaka main town back on the highway to Johor Bahru.
When we returned to Johor State it was already 9plus… so we decided to stop by Kota Tinggi to settle our dinner fix before heading back to Singapore via Tuas Checkpoint.
Time was running out for us, as we were afraid that there will be more delays at the checkpoint (especially at the Malaysia side) so we settled at an eatery place which was about 10-15 mins from the highway’s exit to have our meal...
The Cze Char fare was pretty decent dinner for us and the damage was RM36 (SGD14-ish).
