Vacation: [Melaka] It's a food trip

As everybody knows that both Baby and I are food lovers, and we super love to eat. Since we had the time to make a road trip to Melaka, so we decided to have a good dinner to reward our hard work for driving ourselves to Melaka (our first attempt).

Most of the cities in Malaysia have their own local and speciality food, as for Melaka, Satay, Nonya food are the specialities and of course the famous Chicken Rice Ball.

Famosa Chicken Rice Ball Restaurant is the famous traditional in Melaka that serves Chicken Rice Ball and is located beside the Jonker Street and with a prominent yellow signboard.

The whole eatery place was running full-house, and we queued to get our seats... Soon after 15mins of waiting, we were given a table.

I ordered a glass of Lemon Juice to quench our thirst while waiting for our meal to be served.

Chicken Rice Balls are priced at RM0.50 each, and it is just normal chicken rice, and the only difference is that they are made into a round shape. I personally feel that it is kinda pricey to pay RM0.50 for each small rice balls, but it is alright to pay for special food, I supposed.

We ordered Half Roasted Chicken as they were running out of Steamed Chicken. The chicken tasted good but I had better ones before. The chicken meat went very well with the signature chicken rice’s chili sauce which was uniquely and distinguishable with the strong flavour of ginger and garlic as well as chicken broth.

We ordered other dishes like Otak Otak and Wanton Soup to go along with our meal.

The damage was RM43-ish (SGD17-ish) Overall, the dinner was acceptable and the only highlight is the rice balls, which is the specialty. Oh well, they are something special though they are not wonderfully tasty.

Authentic Nyona Cendol which is great for dessert. A simple and yet satisfaction guaranteed thirst quencher on a hot day. The generous Gula Melaka is probably the key ingredient to a good Cendol.

We did some shopping and makan-ing at Dataran Pahlawan Mega Mall...

We had steamboat for our lunch at Restoran Johnny's, and we went for Set B (RM29.90++) for 2 persons, and we opted for Tom Yam Soup Base which required to top up an additional of RM10.

I love the special creation dip sauce, as it tasted awesome...

Baby ordered a plate of Seafood Omelette Rice (RM6.90) and it tasted good...

We had a delightful steamboat meal and the damage was RM55-ish (SGD22-ish).

The weather was pretty scorching as compared to Singapore, so we decided to get some refreshing gelato to cool down ourselves...

I got a scoop each for Hazelnut and Cheesecake from Gelato Fruity. The damage was RM15 (after 30%) and I personally feel that it is a hefty sum for 2 scoops of gelato.

My trip down to Malacca satisfied my partial ‘makan’ craving, as I didn’t get the chance to taste authentic Nonya Cuisine but the happy side that is I tried the famous Chicken Rice Balls...
