[Food Tasting] Strait Asian Cafe - OWL Café

I was recently at the newly opened OWL Café for a food tasting session. OWL Café is located at The Star Vista (walking distance from Buona Vista MRT Station).

There is an alfresco and air-conditioning seating area to choose from at OWL Café. The cafe offers breakfast, lunch and dinner.

I love the setting of the cafe, as it looks modern and pretty stylish and yet at the same time maintains the culture heritage of the cafe.

I enjoyed my Strait Asian drink - Gula Melaka Kopi Cham Teh.

100% Authentic Kopi Luwak aka Civet Coffee, it is labelled as precious and rare, therefore it is known as the most expensive beverage.

Kopi Luwak beans are originated from Indonesia. They were once defecated by the civet cats and I was so surprised that it has become so exquisite on the dining table. This is what I called the power of origin of food.

The thick roasted coffee went down smoothly down my throat. It was served with Caviar with Gula Melaka and they should be taken separately.  It is an unique way to serve the coffee instead of with biscotti. Serving caviar gives it a prestige look. Coffee lovers should not give it a miss.

OWL Café is the Singapore's first ever Strait Asian Cafe to enjoy traditional Asian fusion cuisine like Laksa Spaghetti and Soft Shell Crab with Nasi Kuning.

Hae Chor Salad

OWL Café uses chicken instead of pork meat for the Hae Chor.

Hainanese Curry Chicken
A highly recommended dish in OWL Café!! The curry chicken was prepared in the traditional way with generous amount of coconut milk and freshly cooked potatoes. And the local way to savor the curry sauce is to dip bread into the curry and enjoy the delicacy.

Bawan Kepiting Broth is a truly Peranankan cuisine dish, and I personally feel that the meatballs and broth is too bland for my taste buds. There is definitely room for improvement.

Spaghetti with Laksa Sauce
I really like the combination of east and west. This dish maintains the basic ingredients (cockles, fish-cakes and prawns) that you can find in Laksa. What a twist!!

King Prawn Fritters with Assam Dip

Magssie with her Cheesy Ayam Cutlet

Assam Chicken Wings
The Assam Chilli Sauce is flavorful but the chicken meat is somewhat not well-marinated that leaves the meat to taste plain.

Spaghetti with Soft Shell Chilli Crab
The spaghetti sauce looks promising with the pineapple chunks and the soft shell crab was well-fried. The dish is served in huge portions.

Roti Bakar Assam Nanas, is a special creation and I like the combination of cheese with ham and pineapple chunks. It tasted awesome!!

Hainanese Chicken Chop

OWL's Soya Beancurd, a traditional dessert that has been going on stronger for decades after decades.

Chendol is a well-liked dessert drink by most Singaporeans and Malaysians.

Durian Pengat
The chef uses the best grade in the durian's rating, D24 to prepare the Durian Pengat. I love the creamy texture of the fruit flesh and I savored the durian puree which was like eating the durian flesh off the seeds. The smell might be too overpowering for some people but it was a truly great indulgence.

Glory Hitam with Vanilla Ice-cream is my favorite dessert! This is definitely a refreshing dessert after a full meal indeed.

I enjoyed the mouth-watering Strait Asian delights at OWL Café.

We ended our food tasting at OWL Café with our group photos.
