[random] JB/SG eats + Hari Raya Gathering Lunch

Image
Last year, while exploring the inner parts of Mount Austin, me and baby discovered an eatery place that serves a delicious and tasty 'Chicken Pot!' I had enjoyed the experience, and recently I re-visited this eatery place again! On hindsight, I realized we discovered this eatery because we were attracted to the large bright yellow signboard that was very prominent! Upon being seated, we ordered the signature Chicken Pot, and requested for the Small Version. This version is already good for 1-2 pax. The Chicken Pot consists of various cuts of fresh chicken meat that is cooked in a delicious black sauce with chillies, and it is served on a burner in a pot akin to the ubiquitous Steamboat. At the eatery, one can also order some additional ingredients to 'throw' into the chicken pot aka steamboat style, and we did just that by ordering Golden Mushrooms, Tang Hoon, Black Fungus, Tang Ou, and Luncheon Meat. I felt that the luncheon meat gave it an extra flavour! You can...

[personal] Happy Barkday Coco + random-ness

Image
Coco came into my life in 2006, when she was only 3 months old. Now, she has turned 11 years old on 3rd January 2017. Baby and I decided to bring her to Happenstance Café , a dog friendly café which is located at Opal Crescent . I ordered some ribbon pasta with carrots and broccoli for her as her Barkday treat.  Baby and I ordered a waffle with ice-cream for sharing, as well as a pot of tea for ourselves. Happy Barkday Coco! Stay healthy always. She still looks as lovely and adorable as the first day I had her 11 years ago. In our hearts, she is always our lovable furkid!  During a recent visit to Kim Gary , I redeemed the a monthly offer of XO Carrot Cake at no cost as I am a member of this eatery! I had my favorite Shanghainese Rice with Chicken and mushroom as my main. Being a member, I was also entitled a weekday 10% discount off the total bill, which added an extra dining pleasure for me! We...

[personal] Dinner at Crystal Jade La Mian Xiao Long Bao + House of Roasted Duck

Image
Jasmine arranged for a double date with our respective partners for a dinner gathering, and this idea was very feasible to me, as I had actually wanted to organize something similar too. We had our meal at Crystal Jade La Mian Xiao Long Bao which is located at Holland Village .   We love the Steamed Soupy Xiao Long Bao very much as each dumpling tasted awesome.    We ordered a main course each, as well as some side dishes to share amongst ourselves.    I had the Fried Rice with White Bait and Egg       I enjoyed the Shrimp Paste Chicken , and I will jot this dish under my MUST-ORDER LIST during my next visit.   We ended our meal with the Pan Fried Red Bean Paste Pancake, and each piece is crispy, with a generous amount of red bean paste.    The total damage was SGD148, but thanks to Jasmine's lobang, she had a SGD60 cash voucher to off-set the damage...

[WEEKEND] Sunday brunch at House of Roasted Duck

Image
Sunday Brunch is a great meal to indulge in with family, friends, and loved ones! Therefore, Baby took me on an impromptu visit to an eatery place located at Sultan Plaza for a Sunday Brunch!     The 'House of Roasted Duck' , is headed by a Hong Kong Chef who was formally the chief 'Roast Specialist' at the Excelsior Hotel, Hong Kong , and he has opened it in Singapore!     This eatery place offers a wide selection of Hong Kong delicacies such as congee, noodles and Cantonese dim sum/side snacks.   Baby ordered the Shrimp Dumpling Noodle (soup version). The noodles were springy and the soup was flavorful too.   I prefer the BBQ Pork to their Signature Roasted Duck as the BBQ Pork was not only juicy and tender, but it tasted awesome! Being a pork lover, I couldn't help having additional servings of it! Both Baby and I enjoyed the Deep Fried Bean Curd Roll with Prawn , as we couldn'...
