Dinner Gathering at Hey Kee Restaurant + Wedding Anniversary Celebration at Acqua e Farina Restaurant

Image
Hey Kee Restaurant is a newly opened eatery in the east, near Geylang. Therefore we decided to have our early reunion with my usual ‘Lucky 7’ clique! The dining ambience is akin to Hong Kong’s famed 大牌 档 (dà pái dàng) experience with a vintage HK interior design.  大牌 档 (dà pái dàng) means ‘big licence stall’ in Cantonese where these open-air food stalls used to dot the streets and alleys of Hong Kong. Hey Kee’s menu ensures that they offer a wide variety of dishes on the menu at relatively wallet-friendly prices as to  maintain the legacy of 'Dai Pai Dongs' There were a few photo spots at the eatery, such as a HK retro old-fashioned barber shop that had a spread of hair-styling/make up brushes as props, and a HK retro bus stop! My meal started with  'Fai Cai Yu Sheng'  for our ‘Lo Hei’ celebration. 捞鱼 生  is a tradition during the Chinese New Year (CNY) period, as we Chinese believe that the higher one tosses the Yu Sheng, the better luck we will have ...

[All about food] Good Friday + Easter Sunday

Happy Good Friday holiday!!  Baby and I went to  'Sixteen Ounces'  which was located at  The Rail Mall  for our chill-out session. We ordered a pint of beer each, and also got a plate of  Cheese Fries  as an accompanying snack. We spent some good quality time together, which was reminiscent of our dating/pak-tor (courtship) days! During the happy hour period, each oyster is going at a valued price of SGD2, and it was great value for money! These tasty oysters were fresh, creamy and large. They are perfect when paired with some beer or cocktails at the premises! Note, in...

After almost a year of hiatus, Jasmine, her husband Ryden, and I finally met up with our good friend Samantha for a brunch meal on the Eve of New Year's Eve! It was initially supposed to be a Christmas Brunch meet up, but it was changed to this meet up instead due to everyone being busy for the Christmas period. We had our meal at Tampopo which is located at Liang Court . When it comes to Japanese food in Singapore, Tampopo is definitely one of the few places that I will visit for my Japanese fix. It is well-known for its Black Pig Tonkatsu and Black Pig Shabu Ramen.   We had an enjoyable time chatting with one another and the food was yummy too! Thanks for making time for this gathering, and thanks for the gifts, Samantha!   On the same day, Baby brought me and Auntie Vi for an early New Year's dinner at Peach Garden which is located at Thomson Plaza .   I enjoyed the food very much, especially the Peking...
