HAPPY LUNAR NEW YEAR 2026

Image
HAPPY LUNAR NEW YEAR!!   I had a simple yet harmonious reunion dinner on the eve of CNY at the Hey Kee Restaurant , which is located at the old Singapore Badminton Hall with Mum V, Baby Hubby, Bro Kenneth and his wifey.   We kicked things off with the Abalone Yusheng , a familiar ritual done well. The Prosperity Pen Cai was the natural centrepiece. Layered with premium ingredients, each scoop captured the essence of the Chinese New Year atmosphere. The Steamed Turbot with Superior Soy Sauce - the simplest preparations are the most satisfying.   I loved the Lotus Leaf Rice with Eight Treasures very much. It was fragrant and comforting!  Lunar New Year is celebrated widely by the Chinese all over the world, as it marks a fresh annual start! To usher in this Year of the Horse, we picked up two potted plants for good luck! During the covid19 restrictions, we had to cut down on house visiting. While it has been a few years since then, my parents still maintain this ha...

Baby's Birthday Celebration at Paradise Teochew + Jumbo Seafood Restaurant

Image
I recently had a dinner date with my Baby at Paradise Teochew which is located at Level 3 of Takashimaya . The restaurant offers authentic Teochew-style classic dishes. Upon entering the premises, we were led to our seats and started off our meal with some appetizers and complimentary Glutinous Tea. We loved the Steamed Bamboo Clam with Garlic and I simply couldn't stop eating once I started on my first serving! I really enjoyed the Wok-fried ‘Hor Fun’ with Kai Lan and Preserved Turnip , as it had a boost of wok hei . I especially loved the preserved turnips which added a salty crunch to the soft flat rice noodles (hor fun). We also had Teochew styled Pan-fried and Stewed Tofu . The Tofu cubes were laid on a bed of vermicelli in a light savory sauce. Baby and I are fans of bean curd and vermicelli, and we enjoyed it extremely! If you are a fan of such delights, then this will definitely hit the mark for you! The generous amount of vermicelli under the bean curd soaked up the sa...

Lunar New Year is celebrated widely by the Chinese all over the world, as it marks a fresh annual start! To usher in this Year of the Snake, we picked up a potted plant for good luck!   During covid19 restrictions, we were required to cut down on house visiting. Now, my parents decided not to do it anymore, even though the restrictions have been lifted. Therefore, we kept the CNY celebration to just within our family on the first day of CNY. We had already gotten used to the restrictions since 3-4 years ago!  My OOTD for 1st Day of CNY!   I spent my CNY DAY 1 at my parent’s place, and we went to watch the movie – ‘I Want To Be Boss AI  拼才会赢 ’ at GV Paya Lebar . The kids enjoyed the show very much. On the second day of CNY, Both KaeGirl and I 'twinned' as we wore a pair of black loafers and high socks! We went to Toa Payoh to visit our Godma, whom is also my mom's elder sister.   We spent our afternoon playing BlackJack, and we had our din...

Dinner at Jumbo Seafood Restaurant + Tipo Pasta Bar + Pancake & Waffle

Image
We decided to have a crab feast for dinner at Jumbo Seafood Restaurant which is located at East Coast Park to end Baby’s birthday. We started off with a plate of yummy Satay, delicious clams (lala) and a bowl of dropped egg corn soup. Of course, the main dish was  Jumbo's Signature Chilli Crab , and we ordered some Fried Mantou  to go along with the delicious gravy. We had a delightful dinner, and Jumbo Seafood  is the perfect place for you if you have high expectations for fresh seafood! The damage was pleasant after a reduction of SGD100 (We has a Jumbo birthday voucher!) Recently, I brought Chewy and Rena to Tipo Pasta Bar which is located at Aliwal Street for dinner.  As we were led to our table, I was greeted by this cool setup of the day's pasta choices. They had these fancy names like   Mafalde, Fusilli  and  Campanelle . Their pastas are freshly made daily and infused with different ingredients, so that means that there will be dif...
