RKM's random eats - Tambuah Mas + TAI ER 太二酸菜鱼 + Sushiro

My Fri-date dinner was at  Tambuah Mas , an Indonesian Restaurant which is presently located at  Orchard Paragon . It serves authentic Indonesia food fare, and the food was served to us at a pretty fast pace. In general, the food was awesome but my standout dish is still the  Tahu Telor . Overall the food was tasty, and the damage was pretty decent too! Recently, Baby and I had our dinner at TAI ER 太二酸菜 鱼 located at PLQ !  We love playing the ‘fortune stick’ which was placed on each table to entertain guests while waiting for food.  This is part of Chinese Culture for predicting one’s luck! Do not forget to order their signature drink, as it will defeat the purpose of patronising this eatery place.  I highly recommend getting a bowl of rice to go with the ‘Suan Cai Yu’ as it can be a bit salty if it is eaten by itself. If you’re someone who hates fish bones, this dish is perfect as they use boneless sliced fish. The fish was smooth, soft ...

[all about makan] Char Restaurant + Sumire Yakitore House

Image
Auntie Shelley and Vi-Vien came down to Singapore, and both Baby and I were their host for the night!     We brought them for dinner at Char Restaurant which is located at Guillemard Road, mainly because we miss their signature Triple Roast Platter very much.     We selected the choice of Charred BBQ Pork (Char Siew), Crispy Pork Belly (Sio Bak) and Roasted Duck .As usual, I love the char siew as it was well-grilled but the standard of pork belly seemed to drop slightly as compared to my previous 2 visits last year. Their Roasted Duck was not my cup of tea at all since my first visit to the Restaurant.     We enjoyed the Minced Meat with Aubergine in Casserole and it tasted as good as before. It went well with our white rice.     We had some greenies (stir-fried kai lan with garlic) and Soup of the Day (Spare Ribs with Bittergroud).     We had a delightful dinner and chilling ses...

[short getaway] Perth Holiday on May Day 2015

Image
Baby and I decided on a family trip to Perth, Australia with Uncle Mike, Shelley, Vi-Vien and Diana. We purchased our tickets from Singapore Airlines (SIA) in March at a promotional price of SGD600-ish per person. I was thrilled that I was heading to another country in less than a month after coming back from my 2-week NYC holiday in April. We boarded the midnight flight and we reached Perth International Airport at 5am local time (do note that, there is no time difference between us). Uncle Mike and group actually arrived Perth a day before us from KL. They helped us to pre-book a private transfer from the airport to our apartment at Bull Creek. The transfer was pretty hefty at AUD50 per trip. We reached our apartment at 6am and we took a short nap before we headed out for our first activity.    We left our apartment at 10am to Perth City via subway. We alighted at Perth Underground and took the free shuttle CAT (Central Area Transit). The...
