A few days ago, I went to the Gala Premiere of the film 'The Faith of Anna Waters' , and thanks OCG for the kind invite! 'The Faith of Anna Waters' is Singapore's first Hollywood horror movie directed by Singapore acclaimed director, Kelvin Tong . He has secured Hollywood funding to make this movie, which makes him the first Singapore film-maker to have and direct his own Hollywood movie!   'The Faith of Anna Waters' falls under the 'Horror' Genre with similarities to another horror movie, ' The Conjuring'. The story is about a Chicago-based writer, Jamie Waters (played by Elizabeth Rice), who finds out that her older sister, Anna has died under mysterious circumstances. She travels to Singapore to investigate the sudden death of her sister. A few days ago, I was invited by Clover Films to attend the preview screening of the 'Ghost Ship', 猛鬼船 . It is a Thai movie under the genre of horror, and  the story is about a group of ship crew who discover that the ship they are on-board is haunted! The premiere date was on the 7th January 2016.   The first half of the show kept me in suspense as I did not know why and the crew were being haunted! The frights come in many unexpected ways and the movie does a good job to keep us feeling nervous. As  the movie progressed, there were many good twists in the show, as expected from Thai Movies. However, I personally felt that the level of horror slowly went down hill towards the end.   The role of the 3 crew members which were played by Timethai Plangslip (Solui), Pongsatorn Sripinta (Yola) and Bhuvadol Vejvongsa (Kala) and were splendid. Among all, Yola left a deep impression in me as he is the funniest among the trio of them.   ...

A few days ago, I was invited by Clover Films to the Preview Screening of 'The Tunnel', which will be premiering on the 11th June 2015.     The movie is about a young lady, Eun Joo (starring Jung Yu-Mi) who meets up with a group of friends to attend the launch party at a luxury resort. A stranger barges in and scares everybody by warning them, that  they will be cursed and will die. They ignored his advice and kill him by accident. They decided to dump the body deep within the mine tunnel where no one could ever find.     'The Tunnel' has a weak plot and tries to keep the audience on their toes by maintaining form of suspense, but I felt the show in general and the ending in particular was badly done.      The story line was pretty odd, as there were many contradictions which don't really make sense at all. 'Conjuring Spirit' is my very first Vietnamese movie and I went in to the theatre without any expectations, but it was surprisingly good!   The story is about an author, Lan (played by Phuong Mai) who decides to leave her cheating husband and moves out with her 5-year-old son, Bi. The pain of the betrayal keeps haunting her and she needs to be under medication in order to improve her mental condition.     She rents a very old apartment to start a new life with her son. Upon paying the rent, a music box was given to her, and which was then passed on to her son. Since then, many strange occurrences begin, and she believes that something evil is coming from the music box     Although, I couldn't understand a single word of what the characters were saying (need not worry, subtitles are available). Many people are afraid of ghosts, but there are some fearless ones who are always prepared to venture into the darkness, for a chance to see the ghost of a person they love dearly.   Thanks to Clover Films as they invited me to a preview screening of The Eyes Diary , and it is a horror movie with a combination of elements of touching love and drama      The movie is about a young man's uncanny ability to see ghosts. Nott (played by Prama Immanothai) lost his girlfriend, Pla (starring Focus Jirakul) who died in a tragic motorcycle accident. Nott wants to meet his girlfriend again, so he decided to join the body-removing emergency unit as a volunteer who needs to rush to the crime scene or auto accidents. Thrill is a new horror channel in Asia owned by Celestial Tiger Entertainment , and it is Asia's first and only movie channel dedicated 24/7 to the horror suspense genre.   Thanks so much to the kind people from Thrill Channel to deliver the horror premiums to my place!   Let me share with you the premiums from Thrill ... There is a water-bottle which resembles a blood bag, and I think it will look super cool to have along for any workout that I might go to! I am a big fan of horror movies especially those directed from Thailand, so when Jasmine extended her invite to me, I gladly accepted it. ‘The Swimmers’ is directed by my favorite Thai director, Sophon Sakdaphisit , and I love how the story unfolds as he always gives the audience a plot twist at the end of the movie. Don't get the genre wrong, although it is categorized as horror, but it is not your typical ghost movie.
