[random] A day out to JB

Image
I love weekends!! Baby and I decided to go into JB on a random Saturday late afternoon for shopping and to have our dinner. Baby and I wanted to re-visit 'Chicken Pot' which is located at Taman Mount Austin , as they serve delicious and tasty Chicken Hotpot! Upon being seated, we ordered the signature Chicken Pot, and requested for the medium sized version. The small version is meant for 1 person. The Chicken Pot consists of various cuts of fresh chicken meat that is cooked in a delicious black sauce with chillies, and it is served on a burner in a pot akin to the ubiquitous Steamboat. At the eatery, one can also order some additional ingredients to 'throw into the chicken pot aka steamboat style and we did just that by ordering luncheon meat, tang hoon, meatballs, hotdogs, an assortment of mushrooms, crabsticks and baby corn! I felt that the luncheon meat gave it an extra flavor! You can choose the level of spiciness for your chicken pot, and we chose the non...

[random] Black Society Restaurant + Kuro Izakaya + Lemon & Herbs Rotisserie

Image
Sunday Dim Sum brunch as usual with Baby and Mommy Vi, and this time we went to Black Society Restaurant at VivoCity!  This was my first visit to this restaurant but the second time for both Baby and Mommy Vi. We began our meal with their favorite appetiter, Deep-fried Fish Skin . They tasted light, crispy and addictive. We ordered the Boat Styled Porridge , but l've had better as I felt it tasted kinda bland.   I loved the tasty Braised Chicken Feet with Beancurd Skin very much, and it was really different from the ones we normally had from other places! I enjoyed the Siew Mai topped with Fresh Prawn very much. We had Steamed Pork Spare Ribs with Cellophane Noodles , and it tasted pretty good. It was one of my favorite items out of the eatery that we had ordered! We ordered the Scallops with Asparagus Rice Roll , and it tasted pretty decent. The damage was SGD87-ish, and thanks Mommy Vi for the lovely treat! ...

[random] Sat-date at Flaming Don Bugis+ & 'Ha Ha' Cheong Gai Burger

Image
On a recent Saturday Lunch date with my Baby, we were at Bugis+, and we decided to give the 'Flaming Don' a try. This eatery place specialises in Japanese Rice Bowls at affordable prices.   Flaming Don takes on a self-service concept, and ordering kiosks are located outside the dining premises. We ordered our meal and made payment through the machine. The receipt indicated our queue number, and we patiently waited for our food. Our meal had an add on option for SGD1.99 for unlimited servings of Green tea and Miso Soup, which is rather worthwhile. You can also choose from other beverages (hot or cold), if green tea isn't your thing. Do note that Flaming Don does not collect service charge, as diners are expected to return the trays before leaving the premises. Baby had the Signature Flaming Chicken Don . The chicken meat is not overly charred, but it still had a smokey flavor which was present. Each piece of meat was tender and juicy. I had Miso...
